Any recommendations on Denver hotels? Prefer to stay downtown or between there and the airport. Looking for less than $120 night.

When? I'm paying $135 for Thurs, Sept. 4 at the Grand Hyatt. Doesn't include parking.

Hilton Garden Inn was about $10 less.

I used Google maps to find the hotels with the best prices and then went to the website to confirm. Southwest.com hotels also had the same prices.

Use Accenture rate on Marriott and they have some hotels for under $120/night

What are you doing that you'd want to be towards the airport? You should be able to find some deals downtown.

I am staying in Denver for two nights....I am not leaving the downtown / airport area.

With all the crap going on politically I wouldn't stay downtown in Denver. I would stay at the Hilton Garden - Arvada, easy to get downtown or to the airport as needed. Walk up the hill at Old Towne and there are a couple of good restaurants. Fits your budget too.

That's what I was trying to say earlier.

The airport is essentially in the middle of nowhere. There's some relatively close hotels on 40th but there's not much to do in the area besides Urban Sombrero and the pizza place. Well Ted's isn't a bad place to eat. Then there are some places on Tower. I'd take the advice above for Arvada. That's a neat area.

Not that I know of but I don't spend much time downtown. I think the last one was 2 weeks ago or so.

Go to Fox News website and you'll see an article on what happened last night. I wouldn't stay in downtown Denver but that's just me.

How much of an UBER Ride to Hilton Garden Arvada from the airport?

Cheaper to just rent a car for a two night three day stay?

Probably about $40-45?? Cheaper than having to deal with a rental car.

I also rented a car for 4 days. The cheapest I found was about $250 (and that was with a company whose name I didn't recognize and that got bad reviews).

I went with Budget and it's $270 for Thurs-Mon (early morning drop off). I'm expecting to pay at least another $30/day for parking. But we are headed to Vail, so Uber isn't an option.

Did you look at National? They've been right around $43/day.

I did searches on both Orbitz and Southwest. I don't remember National being any cheaper.

The cheapest were two companies I've never heard of - Payless and Fox, I think. Both got bad reviews.

I think I went with Budget because they have a desk in the airport terminal (several of the companies said their desk was off-site - not sure what that really means).

I should run the search again, though. There is no penalty for me to cancel and rebook if I find a cheaper rate.

I just did an Orbitz search and prices have gone way up...almost $500 for the same car.

Southwest.com search isn't working. I keep getting an error message for some reason.

We have stayed at the Residence Inn Denver Cherry Creek. I thought it was a nice area.

unless it's recently changed you have to take a shuttle to all of the rental car locations.

I've stayed at The Crawford at Union Station my last couple of visits to Denver.

You can just basically take the train from the airport to the check in desk.

Corporate at my last job was in Wheat Ridge. Stayed there many a times and loved walking up the hill for drinks / dinner. We've stayed there for personal as Arvada is a great little spot for home base in Denver.

Denver Marriott West is also another great option for like $100 / night. Right across the highway is shopping and restaurants.

Make sure to eat at least once at Sam's #3 Diner. Great food.

That is just a customer service type desk.
All rental car pickups are offsite, and you shuttle to them. You can't hop in your rental from the terminal.

That's what I thought, so I was a bit confused when I saw the distinction between desk in the terminal vs. desk off-site.

Denver has some smoky haze from some fires. Apparently a good size in Grand Junction.

I am only familiar with the Durango area and that is not an option on this trip...too far away.

Olde Town Arvada is pretty neat to hang out at. I like Smokin Fins. Denver Beer Co is over there too.

Yes, long way from Durango. There's actually fires much closer to Denver that's adding to the haze. Also, there's smoke coming over from California as well. Talking to the people from here they don't remember it being this bad for so long. Probably waiting until the first snow before it gets noticeably better.

Smokin Fins is good. I've always sat in the bar.. The pizza place (Home Grown maybe?) is solid if you have a decent size group to order different things. The school House bar is a neat little place for after dinner drinks.

There's an Einstein bros bagel shop over by the theater if you want a quick breakfast. I haven't tried Hunter Bay yet.

And not sure if you have kids but mine love the Cereal Bowl.
