We received an offer in the mail this week for the Westin Ka'anapali in Maui which included a 5 night stay, a week rental car, $100 resort credit and 15,000 SPG points all for under $700 with the only catch being a mandatory "timeshare sales pitch" while we're there.

Has anyone reserved one of these Vacation Club offers or stayed at this resort? Everything I read on TripAdvisor seems to suggest its a pretty good deal if you can put up with the 2 hour sales pitch.

It's a great deal if you have flexibility in your schedule as it's hard to ever find rates less than $200 a night. Just don't expect to be able to go during peak times and you may have to travel mid-week. And the resort is nice enough. The grounds are great and I love the location but some of the rooms are worn and dated. Personally for SPG, I prefer the Sheraton Maui right down the beach but that is neither here nor there.

First question; How much is that trip worth retail value?
Second question; Is 2 hours of your time worth the difference between that and $700.

Only you can answer that. If you're saving $100.. maybe not. If you're saving $700, then it seems to be a no brainer.

I do timeshare pitches at my 'home' resort for $150 resort credit, so maybe I'm cheaper than you! Granted, we're only driving 90 minutes to the resort, not flying 8 hours.

We did one two weeks ago in Mexico and bought one......

Go. Enjoy Whaler's Village, a walk to Black Rock, and do the Trilogy sunset cruise. You'll barely be in the room, and the adult pool there is fantastic.

We took 2 of those with Marriott Vacation Clubs. One to Park City Utah in January, GREAT ski trip. Another to Vegas. Pretty good deals.

Got that same offer not too long ago, but passed on it. We did one in San Antonio this summer and enjoyed it. Sales pitch was annoying, but tolerable.

Well we pulled the trigger today. Excited to check it out.

So how was it? We got what sounds like the exact same offer last fall. We took them up on it and went out earlier this month. The resort was great, and Maui was everything it had been hyped to be. Sales pitch was no big deal: guy was nice, not high pressure, about 90 minutes, and got $100 in credit in addition to the $75 we got upon arrival.

I thought the whole trip was a great value. Flights were even a good deal. I doubt we'll ever be able to make it back out there for a better price, but I'm certainly gonna try.
