I saw this flight from Houston to Manchester posted as a suggestion here on Texags a year or two ago. Has anyone used this flight as your starting point for getting to Europe? What are the pros/cons? How easy is it to get to London or other destinations? How are the economy seats? Any other tips?

Was it suggested because flights were cheaper? I've never had anyone ask me that before.
If you want to give me your dates I can put some flight prices for you. I can often save my clients several hundred dollars on flights to Europe. (For example I pulled flights last week for two Aggie's - some were $900 off (Rome), some were $400-$500 off (other locations in Europe).

Think this is Singapore airlines replacement for their Nonstop Moscow flight from Houston. Think it does carry on to Moscow. Great airline. Have met quite a few folks who have travelled from Manchester and I flew to Islamabad from there and it was good.

Yes I believe it was suggested because the price is pretty unbelievable compared to other choices and it is nonstop from IAH. I don't have for sure dates yet; just something I am researching for next year. Not even 100% sure on cities. Right now I'm reading up on London and Paris.

So just random dates in February - Paris was the cheapest. But they all were similar. Manchester & London was a direct flight versus 1 layover for the Paris. (Paris Nonstop was just over $1k)

I loved London. I only spent a day in Paris, so I can't really say much on it. I had a crappy day there, but it was cold, wet, and I traipsed all over the city looking for a store. So not really a normal experience.

Check British Airways to Dublin and KLM to Amsterdam. Those can be cheaper routes, and it's pretty easy to get to London from both places.

This flight did replace the Moscow run but it goes IAH-Manchester-SNG. No more going through Moscow on Sing Air.

I took this flight back in May and the new A350 was awesome. Highly recommend Sing Air anytime it makes sense. I was going to Glasgow Scotland so just hopped on a train from Manchester Airport. Very easy!

Are you referring to Singapore (SIN)? (SNG is in Bolivia)

Did you book it separately, or did the legs just happen to take you that way? I'm still trying to learn some tricks of the trade (I found it - its booked that way I see on Sing website).

They have direct flights to Singapore from San Francisco (United).
Edited as I originally said there was a Direct from Houston but that is inaccurate. They show it as direct and then in tiny font say 1 stop (not listed like all the other airlines)

Yes - sorry. Changi is SIN.

Lived in Singapore for 3 years and took IAH through Moscow and back many times but it was on an older 777. I believe when they moved through route to Manchester they replaced the 777 with the A350

Yep - it used to go to DME on a 777ER, get off for about 2 hours then back on same plane again to Changi. Flew that about 15 Times then the Rooskies raised fees or something so SQ routes through Manchester now.

I took this flight last summer when going to my daughters graduation in St. Andrews.

Singapore Air is fantastic as mentioned earlier. Very easy to get a connecting flight to London from there, or I suppose catch the train (but the flight will probably be cheaper).

The IAH to MAN flight is pretty cheap. Just put in random dates in February and it was $844rt
