The missus and I are planning an Anny trip and want to do an all inclusive somewhere in the Caribbean (we've done Mayan Riviera and want to change things up).

What is the consensus on Sandals? Any other places?

We've done Sandals Royal Caribbean (Jamaica) and Sandals Royal Bahamian. I wouldn't go back to the Bahamas, but that was more the people overall than the resort itself. I've had clients go to Royal Barbados and thought it was wonderful. I had other clients go to Sandals Ochi and loved it, but it is really far from the airport.

Another chain that has very high ratings is Excellence Resorts.

When you book these all-inclusives like Secrets or Sandals, do you pay everything up front or do you put down a deposit and pay at the hotel?

You put down a deposit and then you have a date where everything is due. I did come across one (Hard Rock) where you pay the first night up front and the rest onsite.

I actually don't think I paid the Palladium until I got there either other than a deposit (wouldn't ever recommend that resort, someone's got married there).

I also highly recommend the butler service with sandals. We didn't have to worry about a thing. They brought us drinks, took us to dinner and reserved beach cabanas for us everyday. Well worth a little extra.

We did Excellence Punta Cana for our honeymoon a handful of years back. We loved it. Matter of fact earlier this afternoon I book a week at the new Excellence in Jamaica for next summer. Looking online it looks super nice and prices are super low right now since they are trying to spread the word about it being brand new.

Regency La Toc. There are 3 on the island and in regards to nightlife and partying this was the middle tier. We were there for our 10 year anniversary and while there were a bunch of people there on their honeymoon we never felt like the "old people" lol.

Iberostar Grand Bavaro in Punta Cana.

Check the reviews on Trip Advisor - its been one of the best for a long time.

We are going to Deams La Romana in about a month for our 1 year. Was in similar boat but we decided we didn't wanna pay the sandals price. Place has good reviews but you never know til you get there.

We did Sandals in St Lucia for our honeymoon. We stayed at the one with the golf course and loved it. You can go to the other two resorts at no extra cost for fun and food. They have shuttles that run regularly between them.

St. Lucia is looking good, based upon what I've seen so far, but getting there is going to be interesting.

Usually when I quote it, I find it's cheaper direct. Usually. I always check about 5-6 websites though.

I'm happy to run some quotes if you like (my email is in my profile). I can pull flights as well. (Ps I'm free)

Surprised I don't see Secrets recommended here more often. We're leaving Friday for our 3rd Secrets stay (one in Puerta Vallarta, two in Yucatan) and they've always been awesome.

I have clients who leave for Swept Away on 8/29-9/3, I can report back when they return. I don't have anyone who has done Dreams LRM yet. I have several whose favorite is Las Mareas (Costa Rica)
