Edit
Went to Banff and visited Banff and Kootenay parks. I went in winter because I like cold weather and snow. Most people would have more fun in the summer
Things to do:
1. go rent a snowmobile with Toby Creek Adventures. Located outside Radium Springs in BC. Most badass I have ever done.
2. Gondola trip to Sulphur Mountain. Go on a clear day and you can see at least 20 miles.
3. Tube park on Norquay mountain. It is lots of fun and a little scary to travel 20-30 mph on a tube.
4. Lake Louise was okay. Huge hotel there with people everywhere. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES TAKE THE HORSE DRAWN SLED TOUR WHEN IT IS -2. IT WAS AWFUL.THERE WAS NOTHING TO SEE AND THE BLANKETS THEY PROVIDED WERE A JOKE. MISERABLE.
5. I stayed in Banff at a hotel called Rimrock Resort Hotel. The rooms were normal rooms even though it said it was a 4 Star. Apparently that means expensive food that looks like it is trying to win some presentation contest. Tasted good but too many garnishes and what not. The view outside the room surrounding the hotel are amazing. Make sure you have a Mountain view room.
5. The town itself is really cool. I met more people from other countries than anywhere else I have traveled. It is similar to college station except the average football team with lots of college aged kids, bars,, breweries, distillery's, cheap and expensive restaurants and lots of places to explore.
6. Was unable to see northern lights. Pretty bummed about that.
TLDR: go visit and just have fun.
