I like Avis and National. Disclaimer that I have preferred membership to both through work. I'm always able to skip the counter with both and go straight to a car. Both keep nice cars inventoried. Both have fast return people at the airport.

I seriously dislike Hertz. Always get stopped at counter. Rude staff. Hit or miss with the car quality. Slow ass check-in.

I've alwy been partial to hertz, primarily because I get presidents circle thru my AMEX platinum. Always have had good customer service and am often upgraded. Last month paid for a mid-size at BUR and got a loaded, brand new Tahoe and last week booked a compact (due to work regulations) at LAS and got a brand new, loaded Chrysler 300. Avis would probably be my second choice. National is always higher than a cats ass.

I only have really used Avis so I don't have much to compare to. I like that you don't have to be a super traveler to sign up for their preferred status. The app is nice too. It's pretty cool to be able to just walk in and pick up your car. And returns are pretty quick too from what I've experienced.

priceline used to be my go-to. haven't used them in a bit. if you have a costco membership, they have competitive rates and throw in things like an additional allowed driver for free.

Whoever is cheapest at Costco except Enterprise/Alamo. Can't take their hard sell on the insurance.

My previous two companies forced us to use Hertz, and my current company prefers that we use National. I never really had an issue with Hertz, although I do like picking my own car with National. Flip side of that is at some airports (DCA in particular) you sometimes show up and there's nothing available with a huge line of people waiting... and then the minivans start pulling up one after the other.

Depends. In Weatherford, it was through Enterprise, because they're about the only show in town and they're decent enough.

Most everywhere else I use Avis because it's the "preferred" choice at work.

I'm preferred status at Avis too so you get the easy benefits and some occasional discounts/upgrades. Plus, I never buy the insurance, but it's guaranteed through work (including personal rentals).

I have to use Avis for work, which is convenient because I choose them or National usually for personal travel. I have had to use Enterprise a couple of times recently for work because Avis hasnt had the vehicle I needed and they have tried to screw me over both times. The contract we have with Amex travel means we automatically waive the LDW and such. Well what enterprise has done is tell me "your company contract automatically declines these coverages, so just sign here and initial here." Implies that you are declining everything right? They never say initial next to the choice you want...just circle a box and say initial here. I have honestly never found on there anywhere that indicates i agreed to pay anything extra. But then after you turn in the rental, they are adding a "personal accident insurance" and "roadside assistance" charge to the rental. I won't ever voluntarily rent from them again, because the same exact practice happened at two separate enterprise locations about 6 months apart. I would have caught it the 2nd time but a coworker turned the truck back in after I had already flown home.

Hertz. Company required.

I don't mind at all. I travel a couple times a month and going straight to my car at the airport has been great. Hertz Gold has been fantastic so far.

Silvercar wherever they're available.

If Silvercar isn;'t available then I usually get something through AMEX.
