Anyone have experience with them that you'd be willing to share?

I know that there are lots of fees, but what else have you experienced?

I've had good luck with them. Just understand fees and policies ahead of time.

I'd fly on earliest as possible times

Flown them twice. No issues. Only concern was the number of flights. If you're delayed or canceled not many options to get rebooked.

Don't expect wifi or drinks on the flight, but it can be a good option as long as you're aware of their pricing policies.

If you don't have to be where you're going on the same day that you're supposed to get there and enjoy traveling on greyhound buses, it's a great option.

You get what you pay for. Just don't be surprised by all the fees. And definitely remember to print your boarding pass at home.

I flew them once and had no issues. But I've heard some bad stories. Despite that, they do still get you from point A to point B.

Flew them twice to Cancun from Houston. Buy your bags early online and expect to pay ~$40 each way. They rip you off at airport if you dont plan ahead. You can bring a small carry on bag/backpack for free as long as it fits below seat. They are very transparent about fees on website so review. Allow a little bit of extra time at airport for lines. The planes are new and nicer than United. They were early for both my trips. If it is significantly cheaper than other airline >$100 per person if checking bags, I wouldnt hesitate to book them again. After all, United is now tacking on the fees too.

Plug your potential Spirit flight into flightstats.com and compare its historical delays and cancels to your other choices, if the price difference is still worth it then go for it, but remember if your flight gets cancelled most of the time they won't reaccomodate you on the same day.

I like a good deal but my gosh, how many stories do you have to hear about flights getting canceled with no recourse to understand it's a gamble to fly Spirit. All your savings would be gone like that! Coworker stuck in Cancun, my nephew's miss half their baseball game in Florida.

They are last in customer satisfaction for a reason. Take into consideration that people flying Spirit don't expect frills and that's saying something.

Add this to the list. My office manager was flying St. Thomas to Fort Lauderdale to ATL yesterday. Spirit cancelled their last two flights out of FLL last night, she could find no flights leaving out of either MIA or FLL to ATL that would arrive Sunday. Against my VERY strong advice, she rented a car and drove all night by herself. Due to this and other problems with the flights there and back, she is now on the "Never Spirit" list as well.

Spirit isn't terrible.... not a cheaper 'option' at all.

You're right.. spirit has never in the history of the airline had a cheaper flight from one location to another as compared to other airlines.
