Hmm, posted topic too soon. That was weird.

So the wife and I will he taking a week long trip somewhere during the last week of July. No kids with us and a budget under $4,000. Where would you suggest going and what sights would you see? All suggestions welcome

if you live in spring, as your profile says, then this might work for you.

on Travelocity they have packages of flight and hotel booked together. for the last week in july, you can spend 6 nights in the latin quarter in paris (5th arrondisement near notre dame) for only $3708 all taxes included. that includes your roundtrip flight. leaving Houston on Saturday the 25th and coming back august 1st. sure you will go over a bit with restaurants, etc, but that's pretty damn close to $4k and (in my opinion) way better than the usual suggestions of an all inclusive.

West coast, or someplace far north. Anything to escape the Texas heat for a bit.

You can come down here to Guatemala. Spend the week split between Antigua and Lake Atitlan. This is the land of eternal spring....the weather will be comfortable.
