so i'm traveling to nigeria for work in a few days. i've heard all kinds of stories about the airport, but has anyone been there somewhat recently? am i likely to get hassled constantly for bribes or is that mostly a thing of the past? any other tips about the airport experience you can share would be welcome.

MMIA leaves a lot to be desired...however, you shouldn't expect to pay any bribes. Hang on to your luggage claim ticket, and hopefully your company is sending a car to pick you up!

I take it that you are going to Victoria island? When I was going there for Bonga we stayed at the Eko Hotel. Nice enough, but was a little weird when their filtration plant was off and you had to take a shower in brown water.

We were told to stay out of the casino next door. Also be sure to take your malaria stuff a couple of days in advance to make sure you don't have any adverse reactions. We had once guy have issues on the flight over and had to turn around. Not fun.
