Who has been and when? Planning a trip in September to visit my wife's birthplace. She was an Air Force Brat as her Father was stationed there. She has no real memories as she left at age 3.

We are looking for someone who has first hand knowledge of the islands and even better the air base.

We plan on two days on Pico in the wine region and plan to ferry over to Faial as well. THe rest of the time will be on Terciera.

Any help would be appreciated.

My Dad and I are leaving for So Miguel on Sunday and spending a week there. We're going to take a trip over to Terceira for sure. My mom and dad met at Lajes when they both taught at the American school there. They moved before I was born (in Japan) so I've never been there, and it's been 49 years since my Dad has been there.

I'll try to give a good write up complete with pictures after (and possibly) during my trip.

Things that are definitely on our list. Angra do Herosmo. It's a UNESCO World City. That's on Terceira. And Praia da Vitoro which is also on that island.

Also, we'll try to see Lagoa das Sete Cidades and Lagoa das Furnas, but those are on So Miguel.

I'm not sure we'll make it to Faial or not though.

I'll also ask my Dad about Lajes if you'd like. Anything specific?

Also, I'll try to get on Lajes and take a bunch of pics if I can. I think part of the airfield is civilian now, so we may be able to get around a bit.

Oh wow, that is cool anything you can learn I would love to know. I wrote the base public information office and got some information but basically he said call closer to when you are coming. Pictures, transportation answers, great places!! Let me know!
