Considering a trip in August. I searched for old threads, but other than one from 2008, I'm not finding much.

What can you tell me? Will weather be okay? Where should we stay? What are the must-do things outside of the city?

Weather will be awesome. Sunny, probably 70s or 80s, and 14 hours of daylight.

Recs out of Seattle depend on your length of stay.... Mt rainier (paradise entrance), Olympic peninsula, San juan islands, deception pass bridge and Fort Casey, wineries and redhook brewery in woodinville, chihuly glass museum, rattlesnake ledge hike or others along I-90 corridor, bla bla bla.....

I went in August and we stayed around the Washington campus. It was a good area to stay, specially since we are young. Was only there for 2 days, so didn't do too much outside of Seattle. But there's a Chinese restaurant called Din Tai Fung that has the best dumplings ever.

went in June of 2013. Best vacation I ever been too. If you have the time take the ferry to Victoria Island. by far the best thing ever hanging out there.

Victoria is beautiful. Loved the harbor area. Empress hotel is a beauty.

Also, if you want to venture east of Seattle see if the Gorge has any concert dates.

Take the Bainbridge Ferry at sunset. Also walk the waterfront (ferry leaves from there). Pike Place Market food is worth an entire morning. Space Needle, Kerry Park and Wahington campus are all great.

I lived in Seattle for 3 years.

San Juan Island Whale watching tour.
- Departs from downtown Seattle
- The Puget Sound between Seattle and San Juan Islands is beautiful
- The trip takes you through Deception Pass
- Friday Harbor is a nice break in the trip

Leavenworth, WA
- Nice drive through the mountains from Seattle
- Lots of outdoor recreation activities
- Nice German town with all bars/restaurants
- Stay in town as shops/restaurant/bars are walkable

Snoqualmie Falls
- Not sure how good the falls will be. They got very little snow this winter.
- The casino is not bad.

Cannon Beach, OR
- 3.5 hour drive from Seattle
- Pass through Astoria (Goonie's House)
- Ecola State Park
- Stay in town as shops/restaurant/bars are walkable

There is a good chance that the one from '08 was from me about my honeymoon. We were in the Pacific NW from August 4-13. The weather was great, minus one day in Whistler, when it was rainy and cold.

In Seattle, if you are without spawns, I would recommend the Inn at the Market.
