I'm pretty familiar with Santa Fe as we go almost every year. Still, I'd like to see if there are any spots I'm missing. We are heading out tomorrow from northeast Texas to make the 12 hour drive. I plan to ski a day and hangout with the family the rest of the time. Our favorite places are Caf Pasquals and Casa Sena. Anything else you guys highly recommend? I'm sure we'll go to Canyon Road a couple of times and checkout the plaza. We are staying at the La Fonda.

I'm always open to suggestions. We are thinking of making a day trip to Taos as we'll be in SF for a week almost.

This is a little off topic, but stop at the Cadilac Graveyard on the drive there. It's a cool 15 minute pit stop.

Also, we really enjoyed the hike in Tent Rocks National Monument. You can hike to the top in probably 30 minutes. Really cool canyon and rock formations

OP, go eat some crispy chicken tacos at El Parasol for me. Still the best tacos I have ever eaten.

I despise the Cadilac Ranch. Nasty old cars in a wheat field.

If you're going to take a break in Amarillo, stop by Coyote Bluff for a hamburger, or Tacos Garcia for Mexican food.

Want to see cars, go on past the border to Russel's Truck Stop in Endee, NM. There's not really an Endee, it is on the N-D Ranch. It is a clean, new, incredibly well-stocked gas stop/restaurant/convenience/grocery store. And it has a free auto museum with cars from the 50s to today.

Gabriels Mexican food on 285 north is really good. I don't know how accessible it is in the winter, but Los Alamos is a pretty drive, and the Nuclear Museum (Bradbury) and the County Historical Museum are both good, especially for students of the Manhattan Project. Fuller Lodge and Bathtub Row are still there.

Valles Caldera is an amazing place, worth the time to drive out there, if the roads are clear.

If you go to Taos, you have to go to the high bridge on the Rio. And if the roads are dry, the low bridge is pretty, too.

I really like the food at the restaurant at La Fonda. Bar is pretty good there too, with a band that plays good country music you can dance to.

Stayed in Santa Fe for a week last year with the wife. Agree on Cafe Pasqual's, that place is great. We stayed at the Four Seasons and had a great time. Highlights for us included the steak at Geronimo and the Kakawa Chocolate House. Enjoy, can't wait to go back.

The green chili cheeseburger at Bobcat Bite is the best burger I've ever had. The restaurant close and the owner opened Santa Fe Bite which I have not been to, but the menu has burgers.

Only two places for a green chile cheesburger.

The Owl Bar, in San Antonio, New Mexico.

The Owl Cafe, Albuquerque.

The Pantry, La Choza, Gabriel's, Bobcat Bite, and Blake's Lotaburger are my usual stops.

Had a great week in Santa Fe. However I spent way too much money.

Here is a video I made of my day skiing with my uncle.
