How long do you want to ignore this user?
I am trying to plan a family trip for early August. I have 2 girls, ages 4 and 18 months. I was thinking of driving from DFW to San Antonio for a few days and doing something like Caverns tour on the way into town, Sea world next day, riverwalk and alamo 3rd day, fiesta tx last day. Then driving on down to Port Aransas for some beach fun for a few days.

I am trying to make this kid friendly, I am sure Sea World will be good, but dont know about anything else in San Antonio. Looking for suggestions.

Also, where is a good place to stay in Port A? Havent been since I was in HS/college. But would be looking for condo/house that has pool and preferrably access to the beach too.

I think your plan sounds good. One suggestion, the Sea World trip for the 18 month old will be miserable for her and you. It's just so damn hot. Obviously, your 4 year old will love it, but Sea World in August is a huge beating, IMO.

We have stayed several times in a condo at Port Royal in Port Aransas. (Your four year old will love the ferry ride.) Very nice, restaurant on site, pool, hot tubs and direct beach access via a wooden walkway. They also have grills and picnic tables available. It is a mile or so drive into town but I sort of like that. I have only been there off season so don't know summer prices--a few days, especially mid-week shouldn't be too bad, though. http://port-royal.com/?phonalytics=8yk

seaworld and fiesta in august on the weekend is not a good idea at all; you would think it would be fun but it wont be, too hot and too crowded, maybe pick one or the other and find other things to do if you can

Been years since went to port royal but went when our kids were around the same age as your kids. Was great for us - easy to go back to nap in room. Pool was deep in parts so sort of nerve racking at times - but lots of fun.

Agree about sea world comments above. Much more pleasant in the fall and spring - but neat for the kids

The Port Royal is at least 10 miles from town, in case you start thinking you might want to walk.

I have heard great things about Hyatt Lost Pines for families.

Hyatt Lost Pines is fantastic and very laid back. One of our favorite family-fun places. Would also recommend Westin La Cantera, Hyatt Hill Country and JW Marriott in San Antonio. AS for your 18 month old at Sea World, there is enough for them to do to have fun. Get there early; I recommend going on an off-day (Mon - Thur).

Port Royal is pretty pricey, and the restaurant they have is terrible. The pools are fun but that's about it. If you're spending time on the beach, check our La Mirage or the Mayan Princess for rooms. They are all 8-10 minutes from town, and all have boardwalks to the beach.
