Flying into Kansas City this weekend and looking for a bbq joint with a little history/character and obviously good food. Any suggestions?

i wish i could remember the name, but ate at the place that Derrick Thomas frequented (and apparently they catered a lot for the Chiefs)...in a run down shack, and absolutely awesome...this was 10 years ago, though.

Oklahoma Joe's is straight money. I actually prefer KC BBQ. Arthur Bryant's is good but i think it is overpriced. But the Vine district is pretty cool as long you are not there after dark.

I live here in KC.. Okie Joe's is your place. Spicy sauce on ribs or get a zman. Also, the fries are fantastic!

i went to Jack's stack, and it was some of the worst barbecue i've ever had. so don't go there.
