I was trying to think of where I've eaten lunch in Vegas and I realized that I've never eaten lunch in Vegas before. Actually, that's not true. Every year I eat pizza hut in the airport on the way home. On my work trips I fly out on Sunday morning, have meetings (with appetizers provided) on Sunday afternoon, and then don't eat lunch while I'm working on Monday and Tuesday.

The one time that I went on a personal trip I flew out on Thursday afternoon, had a late morning breakfast on Friday and Saturday and flew home on Sunday.

Weird. I think I've spent about 25 days in Vegas and never once really had lunch.

we've been over 20 times and have eaten lunch only a handful vs. sleeping in and room service. So because of that, it got us thinking for a place to eat early afternoon because we usually don't have dinner until 8:30 or 9:00.

Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill at Caesar's has a Pre-fix 3-course lunch for $29 (I think). Pretty good deal.

Lots of the higher end restaurants have better deals for lunch, leaving more $ for gambling!

Personally, for mid day (if you get up that early) I like Wofgang Pucks Chinois (pronouned something like Chin Waa) in the Forum Shops. It sits by one of the fountain areas (sort of a cross roads) I get a table on the Patio which actually sits out almost in the foot traffic, and watch the people go by....
Great food. Sort of Asian theme...Pot stickers to die for and flavored teas that are fantastic...and I HATE flavored teas.
Very reasonable in price, great people watching andf then a tour of the Forum Shops or possibly their 3D ride or the Anamatronics show down toward the end of the forum Shops...even a vidsit to the Siloette Bar which you should go by on the way in. Not sure i spelled that right or even have the name right...but it's naked ladies behind screens dancing and sits right out there as you walk the forum...can't miss it.
Chinois....702-737-9700

Another good Puck is Pastrios over at the Venitian...again, you can sit out on St.Marks Square and watch the traffic go by, as well as various entertainment. Actually even better in the night when they dim the lights and have all sorts of music and singers in the Square...kind of well, it is a rather romantic place in the evening, but very entertaining all day.

Generally speaking I find Puck Resturants in Vegas among the best. Always well run...he's very hands on and always making a tour from one to the other...food outstanding and always the same and the staff is always friendly and energetic....and never snotty that I have seen.

I had brunch at the Mesa Grill on a Sunday. The best food I had in Vegas. My Coworkers were huge fans of BLT at the Mirage. I didn't love it as much...

Pink Taco at Hard Rock. Ask to sit outside, sit the wife facing inward, you facing the pool deck, should work out nicely.

Carnegie Deli in the Mirage rocks. Split the Paul Newman - 1/2 corned beef 1/2 pastramie (sp?)1 person can't eat all of it. Some of the best pickles you'll ever eat. Also, the mexican food place just North of the MGM on the West side of the stip has good food that not all that expensive.

If you venture downtown, don't miss shrimp cocktails at the Shrimp Bar & Deli at Golden Gate. They also have good sandwiches. Binion's snack bar has awesome burger, chili, and clam chowder.

There is a hamburger place and a pizza place (they are different restaurants next to each other) in the shopping center that connects Mandalay Bay and the Luxor. The hamburger places serves a Kobe burger which is awesome. The pizza at the pizza place is good as well.

texas_aggie_girl_93 beat me to it. The snack bar inside the Horseshoe is great. It is cheap and the cheeseburgers are awesome. Also the clam chowder is very good. The guy that works the lunch shift has worked there for 17 years and the guy who works swing about 20 years. It is just one of those out of the way places nobody has heard of but once you go there you will keep going back. When I am down for business I try to make it there for lunch at least one day.

If you have a car go eat at the Desert Rose golf course. Sit outside if not too hot. It has great food and looking over the course is awesome. Not exactly in the best part of town but it is great.

I included it on another thread, but if you join Club 1906 at the Golden Gate (free), the shrimp cocktail is still $.99

Kobe burger?

Enterprising restaurants are now offering the “Kobe beef burger,” enticingly priced at near or above $100 a pop. And if there’s a better way to prove one’s total ignorance of all three words – Kobe, beef, and burger – this, my friends, is it. It’s the trifecta of dumb-ass. The Kobe experience is principally about the marbling, the even distribution of fat through lean. A hamburger is a bunch of lean beef thrown into a grinder with varying degrees of fat. If you are foolish enough to order a Kobe burger, you are entirely missing the point.

Firstly, the fat will melt right out of the thing while cooking.

Secondly, you are asking the chef to destroy the very textural notes for which Kobe is valued by smarter people.

Thirdly, for an eight-ounce Kobe burger, you are paying for the chef to feed you all the outer fat and scrap bits he trimmed off the outside of his “real” Kobe so he can afford to serve properly trimmed steaks to wiser patrons who know what the hell they’re doing.

And fourthly, you’re paying a hundred bucks for a freakin’ hamburger! Get over yourself! You’ve already established you’re too drunk and stupid to enjoy it in the first place.

Enjoy!

My favorite lunch is the pastrami sandwich in the little area near the Sports Bar at Binion's downtown. It's been there for years--it's cheap and always great. I was there a couple of weeks ago and made a trip downtown primarily just to enjoy it.

I'll second Mesa Grill for brunch. Cdub big mistake passing on the bloody mary. Best bread basket in vegas.

Olives is good, not great food. If the weather is nice it's worth the wait for a table on the balcony.

I don't know if there is a more touristy restaurant than Mon Ami Gabi, but I'll be damned if it's not great every single time. I am amazed at the amount of very high quality food that place pumps out. Great wine cart.
