Interested in staying there in June. It sure seems to be a popular place. Anyone know the best site to use to get a good deal?

Red Rock is very nice, definitely a different scene than down on the strip. Plenty of restaurants, a club, bars, bowling alley, movie theater, and great pool. There is a Salt Lick BBQ that we love to go to.

It is about 25 minutes to the strip from there. Really fast to go up to Red Rock State Park for the scenic drive (highly recommend).

If you want to get away from Red Rock for dinner, Vintner Grill just up the block is great.

Sort of the "Poormans Wynn"...really liked it. Best looking bar staffs I ever saw anywhere. Rooms very nice, casino attractive and well ordered. Eating is OK. And, if you like to bowl....

I don't know about that.....the two are not comparable, one on the strip/one way off and red rock and wynn are targeted towards two different things.

They are both extremely nice and it just depends on where you want to be and what you are looking for when you go to Vegas.

Yes calling it a Poorman's Wynn is way off, not comparable in any way.

Oh, I think it is. The rooms and the eating are compairable...just not as good as the Wynn. And with the additon of the Pallazzo, Wynn's Strip Views have been marginalized.
As I said...I personally consider it a "poormans Wynn". Bowling instead of Golf. Maybe I should call it a "blue collar" Wynn.

I spent over a week there doing an event and it was AMAZING. My room was perfect, the spa was awesome, and all the pools...

Check out the Cherry Nightclub...men's bathrooms.

I guess the Ritz-Carlton in Maui is the Hawaiian Wynn then, just without the gambling

Colorado...don't know about the Ritz, but when Red Rock was being built the owners were very clear that they felt they were building an alturnative for the less well cash endowed to the Wynn.

They were angling for that sort of customer, as opposed to the Mega Resort type like MGM, or the themed resort like Venitian, or even the Euro-styled Bellagio.

Casino design and style, ammenties, feel of the casino floor, ceiling hieght, colors are all very real in the design and also the type of customer.

Admittedly, Red Rock is brighter and more chromie than Wynn, which tends towards dark woods and less lighting. But, my understanding when they were building it was that they were trying to appeal to folks who might be Wynn types, but maybe a little tired of the Strip and the expense of the Wynn, but still wanted the same sort of comforts.

But, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder".

Just got back from a conference held at the Redrock. The best lodging experience I've had in the States. Stayed at the Mirage my last night in Vegas and much rather have stayed at the Redrock.

Tell you this...I would stay at Red Rock in a heart beat....being ON the Strip holds litte alure for me any more and I'm looking more for ammenaties and comfortable gambling.

much different

Two-way mirror-a mirror which is partially reflective and partially transparent. It is used with a darkened room on one side and a well-lit room on the other, allowing those in the darkened room to see into the lighted room but not vice versa.

Window-a transparent opening in a wall (or other solid and opaque surface) that allows the passage of light and, if not closed or sealed, air and sound

Huh. I always just called those one-way mirrors.

EDIT: And wikipedia tells me I've been wrong this whole time.

I'd recommend it for your next trip out here. They usually have some live jazz +/- wine tastings on the weekends. Real beautiful area to hang around outside at night. Plus there's a casino right there if you need to gamble too.

What's the crowd like at Red Rock? (and by crowd I mean women)

Bar staff smimply the hottest I've ever seen...not alot of drunk 20 something party girls if that's what your asking. Seemed a mature crowd, but not the trailer park bunch....I guess upwardly mobile middle class...guess more "cougars" can be found than "spring chickens".
