I would HIGHLY recommend not eating at a buffet. The resterauts have gotten so competitive, that you can get a great meal for about the same price. Also, you can pay a tad more and get reservations at a resteraut so you don't have to stand in line at the buffet.

I think the Spice Market Buffet in the Planet Hollywood (previously the Alladin) is much better than other Buffet's I've eaten (Bellagio, MGM, Flamingo).

Probably Bellagio. Many others are very good. The "Silver something brunch" over at Bally's is outstanding, but is only on Sunday. Champaign and caviar for breakfast. Not sure they still do it considering it is being torn down.

But, across the board I like Bellgio's the best...great deserts as well.

Many are fond of the Buffets at the Rio, and I am fond of the one at the Orleans...great price generally. Deserts aren't as great but some very, very good food over all.

Stay away from the Wynn. While I love the Wynn and stay there...the Buffett suxs so bad it could make Vegas implode.

Ya, spice market is pretty good...Probably would avoid the Buffets these days...well, not avoid. If you're looking for BIG EATING experince, just about any will do. If you want some truely fine food in a Buffett experience though, I personally would stick with Bellagio....but the resurants are so good, it's almost not worth the time to hit the Buffests unless you're a pig at heart.

there are so many awesome restaurants in vegas, i don't know why anyone eats at these buffets. as much as they charge for the buffets, you could eat much better food in the high end restaurants for not much more....plus you can still breath after you finish eating.

where are you staying??

Where you are staying could be important, cause you could enjoy and get "comped" to boot....but, frankly, if you just want to try a really great Buffett, Bellagio is probably the most expensive and the best.
I think you get what you pay for and more. Certainly there are better deals, but the quailty of the Chefs, esp. Pastry is hard to beat.

Staying at the hooters hotel 3 nights and downtown at the fremont 3 nights. I actually heard some of the buffets downtown are pretty fair and priced good to boot

I heard the new buffet at the Palazzo has kobe beef chili dogs!

If you want restaurant recommendations, let me know, I don't know much about the buffets.

I was told (a couple of years ago) that the breakfast buffet at the Rio wins the local contest every year. And it is good. Other than that, I usually avoid buffets.
NITESIDE

I think there are two buffetts at the Rio now...both well liked by locals. The one...ahhh. Oh, Carnival World Buffett, is generally considered among the tops by long time visitors to Vegas and locals. I spent a week Rio years ago an ate there everynight. (they have redone it since) and it was pretty good.
Still, all in all, I think Bellagio is probably the best, but a good, easy to get into and cheap one is at the Orleans.

There is no contest. The Wynn buffet is the best, but you are going to pay for it.

Sterling Brucnh at Bally's is on Sundays only and is $65 per person.

Ham...I love the Wynn and it's now my "home away from home", but to me, it is the worst buffett in Vegas. Oh, the stuff looks great and would probably taste great...but it's always cold and gets even colder on the loooong trek back to the tables. I will simply never eat there again.

Agree about the Sterling buffett...it's something special.

I gotta say I really liked the Wynn buffet.

Really?!..Interesting. I had had a number of people tell me it was terrible before I ever went, but I resisted and went anyhow. I was not impressed. But, each to his own.

Nite- You may want to give it another try. I thought it was great. Maybe it was b/c it was comped...free food, like free beer, tastes better.

Ham...I've never paid a dime for the Wynn and if I keep losing there I suspect I never will....it did look good....but I didn't find a single dish that wasn't cold.

I'll be there again in a couple of months and if I can talk any of my "Crew" into it, I'll give it another shot. They seem to like the pancakes down at that cafe by the cement pond with the naked statues in it though.

But.... That SW Steakhouse is OUTSTANDING. Best Service and among the best steaks I've ever had. I can recommend it to anyone.

I was eating there and dropped a tiny a bit of food on my shirt...even before I knew it there was a waiter standing beside me who quitely offered me a napkin and seltzerwater.
A little stunded, I asked what for...he whispered that I had dropped a bit of mushroom on my shirt. I looked down and sure enough, there was a tiny bit. I cleaned it up myself, but had the feeling he would of been more than happy to have taken my personally taken my shirt over to the laundry and cleaned and pressed it.
Certainly I have dropped food on my shirt before, but this guy was watching my every move so closely, intent on serving my every need that he knew about it before I did.
We looked around then and realized there were at least 3 other guys watching us like Hawks, ready at a moments notice to get us anything we needed.
I didn't just leave a good tip..I put those guys in my Will.

That sounds good, I may have to check it out my next trip out there. My favs are Prime and Delmonicos. How does SW compare? What is the price for a ribeye, about the same?
NITESIDE
How long do you want to ignore this user?
To tell the truth, I really don't look at price when I'm in Vegas unless I don't like it. Thought it was waaay better than Delmonico's. I like the sides at Delmonicos very much, but thought this was a better steak. Think Wynn has his own herd or something. Seems like there was something on the menu about it.
Mostly I'm just shoving food in my mouth while looking at the awesome women at every table. The lady's that visit Wynn seem well kept....
I don't think you can go wrong with a dinner at the SW....oh, my bud that was with me kept calling it the South West Steak House, until the waiter reminded us it was ofcourse...Steve Wynn.
Even saw him there. He's out and around the Casino more than any owner I've ever seen.

Craftsteak is easily the best steakhouse in Vegas. Prime is a close second..

French Market Buffet at the Orleans has a lot of carving stations with roasts, bbq, and ribs. They also have all you can eat crawfish when they're in season.

Its not snazzy, its just unpretentious good food. And is only about $15, whereas Bellagio is close to $30.

If you want something exotic, more expensive, and a little kitschy the Le Village buffet is pretty good. It looks like it could be in the middle of Epcot center.

you could go to a decent sit down restuarant for that...and not wait in line. To each his own, I guess.

Yeah I think buffets are best when they have freshly carved meats, are reasonably priced, and you're hungry. Thats why I recommended the French Market.
The Orleans is off the strip so they use their buffet to draw people in hoping they'll gamble after. Thats why its such a good value.
The Bellagio buffet tries to be fine dining but it just doesnt match what you get in a good restaurant for $30/head.

I would guess just about all of them on the strip. City of Las Vegas and Clark County were clients of mine for several years, so we spent several days per month staying on the strip.

Craftsteak's Kobe beef tasting menu is heaven.

I agree. Craftsteak is the best...it puts Delmonico to shame. Much better service as well.

I agree with piag, Niteside and others here. Vegas has such a great selection of restaurants today that I would prefer to eat at one of the restaurants rather than a buffet. For those who live in larger metropolitan areas, you may be able to enjoy some of these places where you live. I live in a small community so eating at a high quality chain (McCormick & Schmick's, Emeril's, etc.) or a locally owned LV restaurant is a treat.
