Taking some friends to a Red Sox game on Labor Day. The game is during the day 1:30 I believe. Are there sections to avoid because of the sun? Also anyone have any connections for tickets? Willing to pay $150-175/ticket.

It's Boston. You might need a light jacket in September. It could be 80s, but more likely pleasant 70s or even 60s. Sun feels good at that temp.

If you're talking about getting sunburned or being able to see, you'll want to stick to the 3rd base side.

Fenway's standard seats are made for leprechauns. T&Ps to your knees if you are taller than 6ft.

Right field corner down low is fun
Avoid some covered seating is obstructed views

How ironic. I want to Fenway last year on Labor Day. We went because my first cousin, twice removed, was on the Cleveland Guardians roster (he went 1 for 2 with an rbi), and obviously they played the Red Sox that day. (The Red Sox won).

Because he plays both RF and 1st base, we opted for seats just beyond 1st base. We were about 15 rows back and paid $150 per ticket, which I thought was cheap (I thought we'd pay about $200).

If you can, get there at least two hours before game time and dine/drink at Bleacher Bar at 82A Landsdowne Street. It is literally in left center field and has a large garage-style window that looks out to the field. It is part of Fenway but can only be accessed via Lansdowne Street.

Parking garages are within walking distance. I think we paid about $100. Also, no backpacks are allowed into Fenway. That said, you can check them within a block or two if necessary.

You will absolutely love your time there. I'm a bit biased…I'm from Connecticut and my wife is from the Boston area…and we've lived in the South (both Texas and East Tennessee) for many years. That said, the locals are great and you might have to ask them to repeat what they said as Boston accents are THICK! To this day, I still say to my wife, "what did you say?"

Sorry for being so effusive, but Fenway effin rocks.

BTW, look at the first third, and fourth picture that Fuzzy posted. That screen at ground level to the far right is the bar/restaurant. And fyi, we did not need jackets as it was in the low 80's.

One other thing, if you are a groupie, the Guardians stayed at the Four Seasons, which is about a 15 minute walk from Fenway. I presume most visiting teams stay there. Kinda crazy, but when the players walked in to the lobby I thought they were a bunch of college kids. It's crazy how young and talented Major League players are today.

Thanks for all the info. We got tickets in FB47. Kinda of behind home plate. Row L. Can't wait to see a game there. We took a tour there last fall when we went on a fall foliage trip.

Yes, most visiting teams stay at the four seasons there in downtown. However, it isn't a 15 min walk and I wouldn't make that walk at night.


For a true baseball fan it does not get any better than Fenway. It truly is a magical experience. I about wanted to cry my first time there. And I'm not even a Red Sox fan.

We went in August last year Friday-Sunday series and it was cloudy Friday and Saturday but sunny Sunday. We sat right behind the Sox bench all 3 days and had no problem. Their "hot" it seems, is 80's.

walking from Fenway to the Westin in BB is waayyy different from walking Fenway to the 4 seasons downtown. at night. Zero reasons to do that, especially when the subway being right next to both.

Fenway to the 4 seasons walking is prolly a 45 min walk at least.

ETA: the 4 seasons and the Ritz downtown are the 2 main hotels for visiting ball clubs.
