And Tuve walks off all pissed off…like cmon man he sees 2 down the middle and swings at one in the other batters box. Today was a pathetic showing after a day off.

Gotta regroup and take the series!!!!!

This was a pretty clear managed loss…this was mildly annoying in April, but in mid-August it's infuriating.

Management (and base coaching) has left a lot to be desired the last couple games.

Think I've seen Altuve take more terrible ABs this season with the game on the line than his entire career combined

Product of doing absolutely 0 for the offense at the trade deadline.

Cannot believe you let a guy coming in on a 4-43 heater single-handedly beat you tonight and you kept pitching to him with bases open.

29 swing and miss.
6 each for Caratini, Diaz and Dezno
Small miracle to score 4 runs

WTH is wrong with Altuve? His approach at the plate recently has been atrocious. Watches two fastballs go by and then swings at a pitch two feet outside.
I used to love watching him go to right field with a pitch but now he's intent on pulling everything since he thinks he's the shorter version of Aaron Judge.
Maybe Joe needs to sit him for a game or two to clear his head.

Dezenzo isn't the answer at 1B. He's really overmatched at the plate and is not very good defensively. He should have been PH for the moment they took Crochet out.

The mercurial nature of the offensive performances for this team are as extreme as I can recall. The only thing that makes sense is that they just naturally cycle through extreme hot and cold spells based on their ability b/c Cintron is an absolutely awful hitting coach.

Guys change nothing (from swing tendencies to plate approaches) when they're scuffling and eventually just get hot. Meanwhile, you have multiple guys in season-long funks and there appears to be nothing that has changed from their approach at the plate early in the season to now.

We pretty much lived off the long ball and excellent starting pitching on the road trip. Just didn't get the pitching tonight

Has anybody that they've called up produced?? I feel like every player they have called up get over matched with straight FB down the middle.

It's simply an unserious team comp right now. Far too many guys who don't belong. And if Espada suddenly isn't going to use his bench when the moment matters most, they're going to lose unless they get ace starting pitching.

They're all getting called up about a year or 2 early. I'd imagine none of those guys getting called up to start was in the plans back in March/april.

Between Abreu being the worst player in America, Tucker getting a bruise and guys sleeping wrong it's pushed up a lot of clocks on the prospects

I guess you're right. We just have to hope that one or two of our outfielders figure it out or by some miracle one of these young guys turn it on.

Worst team in modern history and have now put up this garbage against them twice. Mariners should get the division lead back just for that.

Espada sending Chas out to end the big rally lost the game. Honorable mention to Yainer being on a beach somewhere in his mind with no Bregman in the lineup.

The Guardians are 5-5 against the White Sox. Baseball.

https://blogs.fangraphs.com/what-if-nobody-got-to-play-the-white-sox/

That being said Chas has a -.4 fWAR and -.7 bWAR before tonight, and is No. 36 in the bottom 50 in win probability added posted earlier at -1.62. He's making a serious run at Abreu for hurting the team the most when he plays - even in the field.

We need to stop trying to force the issue this season unless we obtain an insurmountable division lead. He can try to get his head straight next season

Absolutely…which makes the front office's inaction all the more confusing. You can't convince me that there haven't been better aged veterans out there than Aledmys Diaz to take a flier on.

The Dodgers recently DFA'd Cavan Biggio…I haven't followed what has happened since, but that feels like something the organization should be trying to get in on. Obviously, he isn't "old"…but you'd have a hard time convincing me he isn't immediately the best guy on your bench.

Why Espada didn't put Whitcomb at third and put Dubon in right field rather than Chas is baffling. Astros always seem to call up a player who's hot and then sit them.

Dana has had a half dozen chances at DFA'ed players who hit RH or who have heavier RH splits and who play 1B. He/the club chose to not take a flyer on them. Instead they have tried untested rookies.

The game was lost at the Chas AB with runners on second and third. Just a horrible approach with RISP. He swung at a slider of the plate first pitch.

I like Chas. He looked decent in the first series of the year, but after going on the IL with a hamstring injury earlier this season, he has flat out sucked. He needs to do some serious work in the off-season. He's lost.

Yea that's what's frustrating, there's been some decent DFA'ed players out there and we haven't taken a shot at anybody.

Agree, I understand options are thin, but literally anyone you put in the third outfield spot can hit ninth and quite literally do no worse. I don't know why he's in there every day and I sure don't know why in the hell he walked up to the plate with those runs in scoring position.

Admit it. When Gozer said "Choose! Choose the form of the destructor!" you thought of the White Sox.
What really struck me about seeing it on the big screen again is that they are either drinking beer or smoking in every scene for about an hour.

And that the dad from Family Matters / Die Hard is in it as a cop for about 2 seconds.

the frustrating thing about tonight's game

the 7-8-9 spots in the order...actually combined to reach base 5 times in their 12 plate appearances

via walk, double, walk, HBP, and home run

they didn't go 0 for 12

I think I've mentioned this before but the numbers (for hitters) in AAA in that league are so insanely inflated that you have to take them with a grain of salt. The ball flies like crazy at some of those ballparks.
