Hell yeah! They will be playing in the minor league ballpark next to the Red Rock Casino. Man that will be so fun to watch a major league game in a minor league park there. It's a beautiful stadium. Las Vegas Ballpark only seats 10,000. It'll be like going back in time.

Or like going to an A's game.

so, they stay in Oakland at least through 2024, then a couple years in a 10k seat AAA park then into the new stadium 2027 or 2028? I'd be surprised if they really spent 2-3 years in a minor league park 10+ miles off the Strip, but it would be an interesting venue. Maybe they extend the Coliseum thru 2027.

A new Las Vegas ballpark is unlikely to be finished before 2027, and Oakland's lease with their current stadium ends after the 2024 season. It's unclear where the A's will play in those two seasons before officially hitting the diamond along the Las Vegas Strip.

The team announced in April it purchased land in Las Vegas, and then a month later replaced that location with a deal with Bally's Gaming & Leisure Properties to build a stadium on the Tropicana hotel site along the Las Vegas Strip.

The state of Nevada approved public financing for a $1.5 billion, 30,000-seat ballpark with a retractable roof that will be near where the Las Vegas Raiders' (NFL) Allegiant Stadium and T-Mobile Arena, the home of the Vegas Golden Knights (hockey) are located. The Las Vegas Aces (WNBA) play at the Michelob Ultra Arena.

This will be interesting to watch if this move becomes 100% official. I don't see much room for temporary bleachers to be added at Las Vegas Ballpark. I don't think you could fit a very good baseball diamond into Allegiant Stadium or Sam Boyd Stadium. The stadium where the XFL team played could easily add a ton of temporary bleachers but its a in ratty part of town.

Outdoor MLB games in Las Vegas... cue the "but it's a dry heat" narrative.

I'm guessing they start mid summer games at 8 PM to deal with the heat. It's in the desert, so the temps do drop off pretty quick when the sun goes down.

I was referring to the seasons they'll be playing at the AAA park while they're building the new stadium ('25 - '27, maybe?). No way they'll be playing daytime travel games outside, right?

I dunno, I went to some pretty brutally hot outdoor games at the Ballpark in Arlington.

I think you're right though, they have to limit that as much as possible it should cool off quickly after the sun sets.

I don't like owners being rewarded for being cheap. Screw that guy and all his rich owner friends who do this kind of crap.

Can't really blame an owner for trying to escape the craphole stadium the A's have been playing in. Always promises of something better that never came to be.

I like the move for purely selfish reasons. Planning a trip to Vegas to catch a Rangers series sounds like a good time to me.

Why is it taking so long for their new stadium to be competed?
jkag89
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Because there isn't even a final design for the new stadium.

If it wasn't the fact that MLB really wants to be in Vegas, this relocation would have been vetoed.

I get wanting to move, I don't get detonated the team to make it happen.

The 2023 and possibly 24 season in Oakland could get ugly with the team already out the door. They will probably leave early like the Oilers did.

That is a cool ballpark location and a very nice part of Vegas. I haven't been to a game there before but have family who have been there. I wouldn't worry about it being too far off of the strip.

Look forward to planning a trip around a Rangers roadie whenever they get the stadium built on the Strip. Probably won't make it to any of the outdoor games unless it's in April.

A lot of good that will do seeing as the A's season usually ends in September.
