An old buddy of mine always talks about this bat when we go hit around. I want to try this bad boy out and surprise him next time we play. However, there are many variants of the bat. All I know is the name, the fact he used it in the mid-late 80s, and that it was a beast at the time. Anybody have a picture or can describe the way it looks. Thanks for any help ya'll can give me.

Now that's a name I've not heard in a long time. A long time.

I think I'm going to grab this bat. Doesn't look like exactly the same bat as Cru posted, but definitely from the same era. I appreciate the help, do ya'll think this is close enough?

Also, any ideas on how this bad boy compares to BESR bats? He was extremely complimentary of the bat, but I'm not sure if his opinion was inflated because of nostalgia.

I had one of these bats in the slow pitch model back in the day, it was a +1, like swinging a piece of rebar

I had the black magic with the gold barrel. I think it was a 33/28. While it was the most popular bat in the baseball circuit, it wasn't as good of a bat as the green easton. I still have a green easton, almost unused, 33/28 and it has so much pop. Love that bat. I broke a bunch of the 32/27's Couldn't use them in a cage, they would snap. The little kids watching would freak out when it happened and ask to keep the pieces.

These were baseball, not softball bats BTW.

If I knew where my equipment was I probably have one with this design in my bag.

I think these were -4 bats.

I think you are right that they were -2 and -4 bats.

I never cared for the black magics. I hit much better with the green ones. making me feel old here, too.

Yes! Loved this bat. Swung a 34/30 and it was glorious. Tried the ceramic bats a little and didn't like them.

Which bat was it that had what looked like BB's in the end? Was it the Redline?

The Ceramic was crap. Sounded cool, but was terrible. Had the same type of experience with the Easton Graphite.

Wish I could remember the model of my TPX that I used. Soft feel, loved the hell out of it.

The Easton Black Magic was a -3 when I played in the late 80's. They had another model that was a -5 that had a clear/translucent end, and had a tapered handle if you wanted it. I owned a 33.5/28.5, but the only HR I ever hit was with the 32/29 Black Magic. It was actually in BP, not a game, and the whole team stopped and looked at me for a minute like I had just squatted a minivan.

Also, I still have the 33.5/28.5. Seriously, who gets rid of their last game bat?

I had that bat in a 33/29 with the tapered handle. When I was at A&M my soph year, my dad's Dixie Boys 13-14 team lost it. So mad... Worser is when I left my Rawlings Gold series glove at Oak Hill in '08 which was picked up from thr dugout within 30 minutes of my departure. Still pangs me to this day.

I have black and green TPX and my Air Attack 2 at the house. I remember my mom thinking I was nuts for immediately ripping off the grip and taping them.

Yep. I loved the c-core. By my senior year in 94 the new series of TPX with the thin walled design had taken over though.

I lost my last game bat. sucks.
