I'll start
1984
Jose Cruz
He hustled all the time, he tipped his hat to the pavilion crowd at the Astrodome when he would make a good play, and I loved the PA announcer said his name.

Mark Grace - hard nosed player for my favorite team, sweet left handed swing and great glove at 1B, always looked like he enjoyed being on the field

Sweet nickname. Great player for one of the best teams in baseball. My little league team was the Braves.

Dale Murphy and Pete Incaviglia
I'm sure it had something to do with TBS for Murphy, and I loved Inky and the Rangers

It wasn't long until Ruben Sierra would take over, though.

Easily Ken Caminiti in 1994. I played a little 3B in LL; he made a lot spectacular defensive plays. I would trade baseball cards with friends for their Caminitis. I was also an Astros homer. He came and talked to my elementary class about alcohol and drug awareness, he had gone through rehab that offseason and was having a great offensive year, but not the we knew what all that meant at the time.

Either Steve Buechele or Mike Scott. I didn't pay a lot of attention to too many players until the 1988 World Series.

I liked the response that people had to SB and I watched MS once in person. That was enough for me at the time.

Mr. White, Scott became my guy in '86 and continued as such until Biggio took off in the 90s. Great choice.

Born before all of you. Lets leave it there.

Dwight Evans of the Boston Red Sox.

Reason: when I was 7 years old I saw him it a shot to the 3rd deck in the old Detroit park. Was my favorite player ever since - was pure luck because I could have walked in and had some scrub do it and I'd have loved a player who never saw the field again. Turns out Evans played all but one of his 19 seasons in Boston and earned 8 gold gloves in Right Field, had one of the best arms in baseball and had the most consecutive 20 home run seasons for a number of years, and he holds the record for the first homerun hit in a MLB season (1st pitch of the 1st game played that season).

He should be in the HOF but isn't... He was a really, really good player in several metrics but a standout in none (other than defense).

2001- Pudge Rodriguez. I wanted to play catcher and always did the cross before each at bat. Didn't understand why my dad kept telling me not to do it because we weren't Catholic.

'04 Brad Ausmus. All the other kids would say their favorite was Biggio, Berkman, or one of the others and I wanted to be different. Plus, there's so much to like about Ausmus and can't think of a single reason to dislike him

1988, Will Clark.

I honestly don't remember why I fell in love with him. I think it might have had something to do with an article in Beckett.

Because I was a Rangers' fan, I didn't ever get to see him play. When we moved to Houston when I was 14, one of the big selling points for a reluctant kid was that at least I'd get to see Will Clark play against the Astros. Then he signed with the Rangers in the offseason.

That following summer of 94 I went up to Dallas to visit my sister and go to the brand new Ballpark. I finally got to see Clark play and he hit what I remember being a towering homerun.

Unfortunately not (or perhaps fortunately). Did you meet someone else who was a big Sox fan?

Biggio is a close second, but I played first base so I was partial to B****. And who didn't love the squatty batting stance?!

Close enough to 10. When I was 12, I loved Griffey Jr. He is still my favorite player to this day. Was bummed when he finally retired a few years ago. Watched him tie Mickey Mantle on the HR list the day after the 2005 Clemson game before flying home.

Craig Biggio

As a 10 year old, I loved his batting stance and the fact that he (nearly) always got on base and most of the time, it was a double.

Still my favorite player.

Definitely Ruben Sierra. I'm still saddened about the day the Rangers traded him to the A's for that roider Jose Canseco

Same first name as me...as a youngster...I thought that was so cool.
