Checking in at number 49 is Russell Westbrook.

Ahead of Tony Parker, you know, the guy who is 4x NBA Champ and Finals MVP.

Ahead of Reggie Miller, the second best 3 point shooter of all time (for now, until Curry passes him and Ray Allen)

Ahead of Manu Ginobili, another 4x NBA Champ, and one of the greatest foreign players of all time.

Ahead of Dennis Rodman, 5x NBA Champ and possibly the greatest rebounder of all time (sorry, Wilt, but your stats don't mean much)

Ahead of Vince Carter, who has never won a title, but is number 6 all time in 3 point field goals made.

Westbrook is a freak athlete that you don't see very often, but top 50 in NBA history? GTFOH.

Curry is already the best shooter of all time.

Hell to the no, Russell in the top 50

Nobody has come close to what this kid does. I've looked at the stats and there's no one who even makes sense as a comparison. Longevity is the only argument, but that's a pretty thin rope when the disparity in peak performance is so incredibly massive.

I'll still take Ray Allen or Reggie Miller until Curry has more years like last and this year.

Same reason Simmons rating Bill Walton over David Robinson was stupid. He was great for about 65 games.

He is making 40% more threes per season than Miller and 20% more threes per season than Allen and doing it at about 4 percentage points higher for his career. That includes his rookie season, injury season, and this year that is only half done (that's three of his seven total seasons).

Curry is already 1st, 2nd, and 5th on the list of "most threes made in a single season". He is on pace to beat his own record (286 threes in one season) by over one hundred while shooting 45.5%. Miller's best season was 229 threes at 42.7%; Allen's was 269 at 41.2%.

The game was different for most of Allen and Miller's career than it is now. Bird never hit more than 1.3 threes per game, but the league average in 1985 was shooting 3.1 threes per game. No, not per player, per team.

The Warriors led the entire NBA in threes made with just under 160. Curry has made about 220 this season.

Hard to compare.

While not shooting the same volume, Steve Kerr hit over 50% of his threes 4 times and has the NBA record for 3pt%.

Who would you want a three from with the game on the line? Curry or Bird?

I'll take Bird..

but I reserve the right to change my mind in 5 years...

Yes, he is by far the best shooter in the history of the NBA. He is damn near automatic from ranges never seen before.

Outside of this ESPN ranking, Does anybody really believe Chris Paul should be above Steve Nash?

I mean Nash is a 2 time MVP..
Guitarsoup

Yeah, but nash probably shouldn't have gotten either MVP.

Chris Paul is only better at Steve Nash at two things. Flopping and being a punk ass *****.

Steve Nash was a huge flopper. He even admitted that the flagrant hip check by Horry was a big flop by him.

Chris Paul is infinitely better at defense than the Matador, Steve Nash. Paul has also led the NBA in steals 6 times and assists four times. While Nash was a better pure shooter, Paul has had 7 seasons where he scored more than Nash's career high while keeping his career assists 1.5apg higher.

I think D-Wade is better than both, and he's ranked just below them.

Only 10 left.

Here is my stab at how ESPN will do it.

1. MJ (#1 SG)
2. Jabbar (#1 C)
3. Magic (#1 PG)
4. Lebron (#1 SF)
5. Bird (#2 SF)
6. Wilt (#2 C)
7. Duncan (#1 PF)
8. Russell (#3 C)
9. Shaq (#4 C)
10. Dream (#5 C)

This isn't really a valid argument. Kerr's job was to receive wide open set threes created by Jordan and Duncan.

In a league that knows the three and knows how to defend the three, Steph Curry is hitting 46% of a volume of threes that no one has even been close to before. He does it curling off screens, off the dribble, from eight feet beyond the arc, with a defender draped all over him... sometimes all on the same play.

Yeah, the game was different back then. Partly because nobody knew how to shoot the ball like Steph Curry does.
Seven Costanza

Agreed. He's shooting 46% while shooting highly contested pull-up threes off the dribble ELEVEN times a game, on what may wind up being the best team of all time. And he's on a pace to beat his own record of threes made in a season by over 100 threes.

Other than Kareem, I wouldn't pick any player that played before 1978 over Hakeem if I was starting a franchise.

I looked again and Dream hasn't been ranked yet.

The last 11 will be very interesting to see where they're placed. I think overall they have done a decent job so far.

Lebron way too high for what he's accomplished. He should be around 7-8 with the ability to move up. Russell is always so overrated in my opinion. Other than that, looks fine to me.

Both LeBron and Magic have almost exactly 12 and half seasons of NBA basketball under their belts as of today. Comparing both bodies of work, Magic easily should be ahead of LeBron.
