Agreed but my guess is plenty of folks here will defend him because he a) played for A&M, b) is screwing over the hated Mavs, or c) both. Any other set of circumstances and he'd be unanimously criticized.

Its definitely better for the rest of the West if he goes to Dallas because LAC would no longer be a contender and Dallas still wouldn't be a contender, but the Cuban tears if this does happen would be hilarious.

But yeah pretty ****ty move if he does do it.

Aggie or not and Mavs fan or not....MAJOR punk move if he flips back hours before signing.

by the way, carlos boozer did this exact same thing, so it's not really unprecedented, but we will see if he truly changes his mind

If he hasn't signed the paper, then he's not backing out on anything. There is a reason that written contracts exist.

Plan and simple - The Clips are better with him than the Mavs are with him. Oh and there is more money on the table in LA. But sure come home.....

Maybe we can start calling him Mr. Maverick after Corey Nelson.

Boozer got a ton more money, though. Boozer was going to sign a 6y/36mm contract (basically the MLE) and Utah came in and offered 6y/70mm.

Hard to turn down getting paid double.

Boozer was restricted, but Cleveland let him go anyway because they didn't want to pay that much.

Telling the Mavs you're in and letting the whole world for five days believe that you're committed to them only to balk at the last second isn't "backing out?" You and I have different definitions of that term. You mention he hasn't backed out bc there isn't a written contract...well, it'd be impossible to back out if there WAS a written contract so I'm curious when you believe a player is able to back out, if at all.

Did he cost Barrea a chance to go somewhere else? Did he cost WM a chance to go somewhere else? Did he cost Chalie V an opportunity to get more than the league minimum? DJ doesn't operate in a vacuum here, and people are making plans based on him keeping his word. That's significant, in my opinion.

No one has signed, if this does happen, there might be people coming back at WM and Barrea.

But other teams have committed their money to other people since all that fell into place.

WM is lucky someone threw that much at him coming off a bad injury. Charlie V is probably lucky to still be in the league.

More money on the table in TX due to state income tax.

You are an idiot.

I don't think anyone outside of Dallas was expecting them to be better than the 2014-15 Clippers with DJ, let's not get carried away.

Spurs fan and I think it'd be pretty damn bush league for him to go through with it.

This isn't waffling between two entry-level jobs coming out of college, we're talking about huge money and a decision that forced the Mavs to change their approach to other FAs.

You seem a bit worked up. I hear Bill Cosby has perscriptions for Quaaludes. Perhaps you ought to see if you can borrow some

Clips won 6 more regular season games than Dallas. Pretty sure one of the leagues best rebounders could close that gap significantly.

Come on now. The Clippers are title contenders with Jordan. The Mavs aren't. As a Rockets fan, I want Jordan in Dallas. That only leaves three teams better than us in the West, and one of them wouldn't be Dallas.

Hater's Guide to DeAndre Jordan's Free Agency:

quote:
But how much thought did Jordan give to the future of the Mavs?

Look at what the Spurs have done to build around Tim Duncan over the past five years. They've drafted well, they've developed castoffs into affordable role players, and they've stayed flexible. Now imagine the opposite of that. That's how the Mavericks have been building around Dirk Nowitzki.

They've drafted nobody, they've paid role players (Parsons and Wes Matthews) like stars, and their actual role players are a disaster. Jordan worried about Blake Griffin leaving in two years? Dude. J.J. Barea was just playing 30 minutes per game in the playoffs.

quote:
The Mavs? They are the anti-Sixers this is the team that refuses to accept it's time to start over, and it won't stop until Mark Cuban has overpaid every third banana in the league to try to steal the seventh seed.
