lebron has been underpaid ever since he finished that rookie max extension. He knows it, and will probably be signing 1+1 deals for the forseeable future. I think he wants to be the first player to make $40M in a season, and at this rate, he actually might. He is opting out purely for the money

I think the coach is an issue with him. He is playing a wait and see game, IMO.

i would think he likes the coaching situation since it allows him to run the team.

When the salary cap goes up he wants to get more of that % share hence the opting out each year. This is going to go on each year he is left in the nba

the same LeBron who took a pay cut to go to Miami, and the same Duncan who made $194M from 2000-2012? You think Duncan was playing for free during his main prime years? The dude is like every other NBA player. They all care about money. Don't make him seem like a saint. Not all players are like spreewell, but they all need to look out for their best interests as well. No shame in that

To be fair Lebron's "pay cut" was 2 million less than max and he got a 10.5% pay raise each year. He really only missed on the extra year but they all had player options anyway so he was going to renegotiate anyway.

But he should be paid more than the max anyway because no one would ever buy Cleveland gear or go to games without him.
