last night was awesome and today's atmosphere will be electric. Creek vs Lake for the right to go to State is a dream matchup for us old timers who still remember Creek's 19 consecutive district championships back in the old days.

Aggie bball loss and a 2OT loss for Creek. Didn't help ourselves to have 3 starter out in the second OT.

My dad played for CC back in the middle of that long run of district championships. His stories of winning Houston big school tourneys and All-Americans at Clear Creek are impressive. Made me jealous that I didn't attend a basketball school in high school.

His one lament is that he wished his high school buddy would have found more success in college, mostly blames Shelby.

who was his high school buddy? I'm assuming either Benny Lenox or Jeff Overhouse - both had great careers at A&M.

also - the trophy case at the Carlisle Field House is one of the most impressive sites you'll see at gym. Those 19 consecutive district silver basketballs all in a row are impressive.

Benny Lennox. Dad felt his talents were not well utilized, but it could have simply been the difference between HS & college ball and what one can do at the next level. I've seen many guys find that what worked in high school requires a major change to be success against significantly better competition. Dad may not have been able to appreciate that difference. Having played regularly at the Rec against more college level competition, I may have a better idea it wasn't the coach but the the opponents.

I have known a couple of Shelby's players who had mixed emotions about him. Though, that's probably case with any coach.

Bennie Lennox

One of the greatest basketball players to play at A&M, earned three letters in 1962-63-64; co-captained 1964 squad. Was the SWC's Most Valuable Player in 1963-64, and was all-conference the same two seasons. One of the leading scorers and rebounders ever at A&M, still holds the A&M record for most points in a game with 53.

It might be expectation vs reality, but Ol' Bennie did ok based on this. Go look him up in the career stats - he's all over the books for A&M. Also note Jeff Overhouse another Creek product is listed in the top 10 for many of the rebounding records at A&M.

Those Creek teams back in the 60's-early 70's were great and had some really good talent.

I am very cose to CCHS and Buddy Carlisle is a close friend. Still heartbroken from last Saturday.

Buddy was my coach. I was on his last jv team and his first varsity team. My brother also played for him.

I used to play in open gym at Creek against is brother Billy who was a handful to guard and a rough player. Still can't believe he is gone

What a heart breaker

What an awesome game. Lake played a great game and probably should have won. With Creek playing lake to a 2OT loss, us Creek fans could only think what could have been. Two great bball teams in 24 6A this year.

With plano having 3 div 1 players on their starting 5, you look at lake and I don't think they have anyone going major div 1 ball. Goes to show you what a good coach means and what it means to play as a team.

Lake should have held the ball a few more seconds before driving but probably gets called to the line 9 time out of 10.

I watched all 3 Lake/Creek games and they we all great. Can wait to see how things shape up next year.

I played at Lake in 76 with Steve Sylestine under Coach Kreuger. Probably the best CL team not to win state as we faltered in the regional finals against Port Arthur and Thad Sanders. 37-4.
