His last contract (4 year 40 million dollar deal) was about potential, but his play the last two years had shown that it was money well spent. For the last two years, he's led the league in rebounding and shooting %, and he's been in the top 2 or 3 in blocked shots. Doc Rivers recently said that watching Deandre play defense was like watch Picaso. (He's still shooting about 40% from the stripe, though!)

He's an UFA this summer. It will be interesting to see what kind of contract he gets. Any predictions?

Just going off the top of my head, I remember Tyson Chandler signed a 4 yr / 58M contract with NY in 2011. I would guess something like that would be in line.

I just went back and read the relevant threads from that time period... it looks like opinions here and articles were about 70/30 in favor of the contract.

Turn up the volume. The buzzer malfunctioned or something because you can clearly hear it on the replay.

It was the shot clock you hear buzz, and it is much more faint than a final horn.

There was 2.8 on the game clock, and 1.7 or so on the shot clock, so that is why you hear a faint buzz on the CP3 shot.

Would KILL to have him back here in Houston.

Deandre played well in the playoffs. With his defense, rebounding, and improved offensive game, he might get the max from somebody. He'll get close to the max, at least. I hope he comes home to Texas.
