The West looks like it will be awesome to watch in the playoffs. You have GSW, Memphis, Houston, Dallas, LAC, SA, Portland and Phoenix....all of which will be tough outs.

But out East....wtf?

People thought the same thing in 2004, then the Pistons went HAM in an awesome finals performance that ended a dynasty

Chicago needs to make it from the east for a more popular series. Cleveland of course too for the star factor but the way Cleveland is playing right now, that doesn't look likely. Washington may be next best team that has a chance to make it. Toronto or Atlanta, yuck.

Its going to depend on who comes out and the matchups created. Still really early to be able to see how everyone is playing.

Toronto vs. Memphis finals - they'll start putting the games on tape delay like they did in the 80s.

Chicago and Toronto are very good. I think Chicago can play with anyone in the west. So if you mean it wont be competitive then thats not the case.

Has Toronto gotten significantly better than last year? In spite of their record, I thought they looked pretty mediocre in the playoffs last year. Poor defense and shot selection.

I think Atlanta is the team to beat in the east. They are San Antonio East.

Atlanta is legit, if healthy.

Just in the last 4 weeks, they have taken down the Clippers (twice), Mavs, Bulls, Cavs (twice), Houston, Portland, and the Grizzlies.

The Kobe-Shaq Dynasty had already ended. 2004 was mad scrambling to try to drag it out some more with a couple of retreads.

Atlanta vs San Antonio. Any real fan would enjoy the ball movement and efficient basketball with that series.

With Paul George returning for the Pacers, the Pacers playoff series in the first round might actually be one of interest. At least two of the other three will be sleepers.

Assuming Indiana can make the playoffs, it should be a fun series. I hope they get in.

That would be insane to see Atlanta/Indiana flipped from last year. I wonder if that's happened before

I don't think Atlanta can hang with the Spurs. They are a good team, but they are basically the Spurs minus about 80 collective years of experience in the system. Watching the games this year, it has felt like the Spurs are two passes ahead of the Hawks on both ends of the court.

And now Pacer Chris Copeland is in stable condition after getting stabbed and fracturing an elbow.

Somewhat related:
Hawks players Pero Antic and Thabo Sefolosha were arrested on charges of obstructing the crime scene, after police said they blocked officers from trying to start their investigation. The players were in town to play the Brooklyn Nets at the Barclays Center on Wednesday night and had arrived late Tuesday after playing a night game in Atlanta.
