They'll be fine. No doubt they will make the playoffs. Whether they will be able to grab a HCA spot for the first round could be a different question.

They topped out at .732 in 12-13.

Assuming they won 73% of their remaining games (best case scenario, basically), they would finish with 53 wins.

The 8th seed Mavs finished with 49 wins last season.

So basically, it's gonna be damn close. They have to hope at least three teams fizzle out - Suns, Pelicans, and Kings. I see it being a 4-way race for the eight spot.

Its going to suck for the 1 or 2 seed to face them in the first round.

even if they go on a run and make it safely into the playoffs, they are going to have westbrook and durant going 40 minutes a night the entire way. durants foot injury is going to be a concern the entire year, and westbrook has already had his knee torn up and fixed once. both of those injuries carry significant risk of re injury.

i'm having a hard time seeing OKC being relevant this year.

durant has never gone 40 minutes a night on a fractured foot.

if they stay healthy when they get back, they are going to be their typical pain in the ass team you don't want to play.

i'm saying i wouldn't be surprised if these injuries cause more problems. this OKC team doesn't stand a chance in the west if they don't have both of their guys.

I'll stand by my prediction from the other thread: Durant & Co end up the 7th or 8th seed, and teams seeded 1 & 2 end up "resting" a lot of players, several games, in order to avoid playing the Thunder in the first round.

I can only speak for myself.

Tie leaves no loser, so nothing.

I think if they do it will be no better than a 7 seed. The west is stacked and if OKC falls too behind early they could easily miss the playoffs. Not like they will reel off 20 wins in a row when Durant gets back or Westbrook gets back. It's going to take time for them to regain rhythm. I could see them missing.

Another loss for OKC tonight. This time Brooklyn got em in OKC.

Last year, Dallas was the 8 seed at 49-33 (they would have been the 3 seed in the East. Lordy). The West is about as competitive this year. If Durant & Westbrook came back tomorrow, OKC would have to win 67.6% of their remaining games just to get to 49 wins. So if those 2 are out much longer and then need a couple of weeks (or God forbid a month) to get back up to speed, OKC will probably miss the playoffs. I mean you can only lose 32-35 games in the West if you want to make the playoffs. OKC already has a third of those losses, it's still November, and it's going to be a little while yet before those 2 are back.

Projections say that Westbrook and Durant will return on the 2nd or 5th of December. Here are there next few games ending with the one on the 5th:

So I have them at 4-13 going into New Orleans. If I'm the Thunder, I figure that the Pels are a loss even if I play a rusty Westbrook and Durant, so I rest them until the 5th. They get a few minutes against the 76ers, which is a win whether they play or not so it's a nice opportunity to get a few low-pressure game minutes. That puts them at 5-14. From there they have to win 71% of their remaining 63 games to get to 50 wins, which is what it will take to make the playoffs this year. The last four years when they were fully healthy and didn't have a brutal start they went 67%, 71%, 73%, and 72% for the season.

All depends on how they handle Durant and Westbrook. I hope they aren't rushing anyone back because of the poor start. As mentione, it's going to take awhile for these guys to get going though and I highly doubt they start playing 40mpg right off the back. They will probably sit b2bs as well for awhile if they are smart. Who knows though, we are talking about the clueless scott brooks.

3-12 now. Need to go 47-20 to get to 50 wins.

I think they miss the Playoffs.. Hope so at least.
