Sorry if this was already posted but wow just wow

quote:
Here's the exact quote from LeBron James: "At the end of the day, all of the people that were rooting for me to fail, tomorrow they'll have to wake up and have the same life that [they had] before they woke up today. They got the same personal problems they had today and I'm going to continue to live the way I want to live and continue to do the things I want to do."

how could someone possibly like him after he says something like that

I just think it is sour grapes on his part the reason most don't want to see him succeed with the Heat is the way he left Cleveland. If he would have just told Cleveland from the start he was not coming back fans would be mad but they would have forgotten by now at least in other cities besides Cleveland. He pretty much has every city rooting against him and the more he say stuff like the quote above the more people will root against him. He should just take the high road and say oh well can't make all fans happy one way the other.

Buddy of mine said this today:
"Hey lebron, if you're so much better than my "normal life" then why do you and I have the same number of NBA championships?"

And you wonder why everyone wants him to fail.

I hope the Jordan comparisons can now stop. He is freak as far as talent but does not have the work ethic to be a truly elite player.

Dude needs to hire a PR person and the first thing they should tell him is to be quiet.

If he had simply said, "Give credit to the Mavs, they played great and Dirk is a really good player. The reason we lost is I let my team down in the 4th quarter and I'm sorry for that. I'm going to do nothing but workout and practice during the summer; and I promise the fans we'll be back"

Basically LeBron said that even we lost, my (rich) life is awesome and the (poor) haters' lives suck. F him.

Steve Kerr yesterday said he is no MJ but more like Scotty Pippen. Good defender, good passer one dimensional offensive game.
Hopeful the media will now moderate the hype a bit.
Why in the NBA do they always anoint players that have'n t done it yet instead of going with the proven superstars?
I recall during the 90's the NBA didn't much advertise or promote Akeem, Robinson, Stockton or Malone they promoted a bunch of one or two year players that all became bust!

Akeem was pretty good, but I personally thought Hakeem was better.

The guy may win a few before he's done, but he will never be one of the greats because he's a mental midget. Maybe the most physically gifted player to ever play the game, but mental midget.

What else do you expect from a guy who's had the media in his face telling him he's the greatest since he was 14-15? The dude doesn't live within a normal reality. I just hope one day he grows up and gets a little perspective or he's going to be one of those former athletes who practically destroys his life once the reality that life in the spotlight is over.

I agree he needs a PR guy bad. Everything from "the decision", promising 7 championships, this and all his other gems scream that his posse are too damn scared to tell him to shut up.

Stackhouse was talking about this on NBA TV, and he said he understands where James is coming from. His comment was that the reporters were pressing him and pressing him trying to draw him offsides with questions about choking and all that stuff, and finally he just pushed back. And Stackhouse was like look, at the end of the day, the guy made $50MM to play a kid's game. Hate him all you want, but he's not going to sweat it.

Didn't he already hire kids off his high school basketball to be his agent and in charge of his marketing? The guy is a moron.

If I were LeBron (which this is why I could never be in public office, a coach, or a high profile athlete), I would have told people to FO way before now. I don't blame him.

1. He would have been stupid to go back to Clevland, ask Kevin Garnett how sticking with a franchise who is not committed to winning works out.

2. He has admitted that the decision and the rock concert was a mistake, but in the end ESPN approached him to do it and he raise 2.5MM for kids. Let it go.

3. The NBA owners LOVE the Heat, and it is good for the NBA. The Heat are now the biggest road draw, used to be the Lakers but not anymore.

If I were LeBron I would just ask everyone who talks **** and hates two questions:

U Mad?
U Jelly?

Not a fan, just finding it funny that most people (even Dallas fans) are more concerned that LeBron lost than the fact that a great player in Dirk got his ring. The butthurt is still strong with this one.

too early to write him off yet....
but he kinda reminds me of Mike Tyson. Starts off setting the world on fire at very early age, runs into 1-2 obstacles, has some PR nightmares, not sure how to handle it.
He does need a better PR coach, but I'd still want him on my team.

Wrong. Dallas fans are not more concerned about Lebron losing than Dirk and the Mavs winning. I can guarantee that with 100% certainty. Hell, aside from my happiness for Dirk and my city, I care more about Dirk finally getting to give DWade the ultimate FU he's deserved as opposed to ANYTHING going on with Lebron. Lebron is a subplot to the subplot.

Wrong. That organization bent over backwards to get him what he needed. Danny Ferry hired/fired/signed/traded more than just about all but two or three other GM's in the league. You can say a lot of things about that organization up top during LeBron's tenure, but stagnant wasn't one of them. You don't get obtain the league's best record two years in a row without help from your organization/franchise.

how is what lebron said after the game any different from what charles barkley said about miami fans?

here's barkley's quote about heat fans:

quote:
“They were telling me I suck,” he said. “They were telling me I never won a championship. Like, ‘Come on, give me something better than that, dude.’

“I always laugh at that statement, ‘You didn’t get a ring. ‘I’m like, dude, you work at McDonald’s. My life’s a lot better than yours. You relax.’

oh yeah, people like barkley and hate lebron...double standards ftw

umm, people dig on Charles Barkley, too. He is on the same level as Lebron, a mental midget.

Now that's just turrible.
Head Ninja In Charge
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Barkley never proclaimed he was going to win 8 championships before even winning one Finals game.

Barkley never promoted his free agency decisions via a self-serving television special.

Barkley never called himself "The Chosen One" before making even one All-Star game.

Barkley didn't want to be a role model. LeBron made public his aspirations to be a global icon.

If you can't see the difference between those two, then I don't know what to tell you.
Head Ninja In Charge
How long do you want to ignore this user?
And yes, people dig on Charles Barkley. But he welcomed his role as the big-mouthed villain. That was his reputation.

LeBron, on the other hand, has tried from day one to cultivate an image/brand for himself and now that he's failing at it and garnering villain/Barkley-like backlash, he can't take it.

That's the difference. Barkley has been talking **** since he came into the league. LeBron has been Tiger-esque in his pre-Decision career.

But how many times did Lebron James take Cleveland to the Eastern finals, and then even to the Finals?

I don't care if Lebron James wants to leave Cleveland, but he shouldn't act like he's Hercules when he has to leave a team that was repeatedly 1 or 2 series away from his ultimate goal so he could go ring-chase.

It doesn't matter how many moves you make, you let the best guys go (Carlos Boozer) and you just keep swaping scrub after scrub. It is not like they were bringing in any big names to help.

i see plenty of differences between the two individuals, but absolutely no difference between their quotes.

if it offends you when lebron says it, why wouldn't it also offend you when barkley says it?

but the fact is people applauded charles for saying it, probably because they hate heat fans as much as they do lebron.

Since when does Jim Gray work for ESPN? The article says Jim Gray pitched the idea to Maverick and LeBron who in turn pitched it to ESPN while the rest of the free agents announced it in interviews, over Twitter or behind closed doors. What about that link excuses the abomination that was The Decision? That's right, nothing.

And Carlos Boozer? Are you serious. His defection to the Jazz was one of the biggest backdoor deals in recent NBA history. They released him from his contract so that he could sign a restructured deal and that dickweed signed with Utah under the table.

LeBron was surrounded with terrific complimentary pieces and a good defensive coach (ahem, much like the Mavs). If these Finals were any indication, the signing of another All-Star or two doesn't guarantee a championship. And either way, he had two All-Star-caliber players playing with him in Mo Williams and Antawn Jamison. Great glue guy in Varejao. Again, this team lead the league in total wins two years in a row and had a legit chance to contend each year. It wasn't like they were floundering at the bottom of the heap each year because of mismanagment.

Again, if your organization is getting to the Finals, Eastern Conference Finals, home to a Coach of the Year, etc. - you're doing something right. You're acting like Danny Ferry was Isiah Thomas or something. Get real.

1. I don't see too many people applauding Charles for anything. If anything, everyone is pretty dismissive of comments because...

2. ...it's Charles ****in' Barkley! He's the equivalent of the annoying fat girl in the cafeteria. There's a difference between the annoying fat girl saying "I hate everyone at this school." versus the prom queen/valedictorian/whatever saying it.

quote:
"Basically I was saying at the end of the day this season is over and -- with all hatred -- everyone else has to move on with their lives, good or bad. I do too," James said.
It wasn't saying I'm superior or better than anyone else, any man or woman on this planet, I'm not. I would never every look at myself bigger than anyone who watched our game. It may have come off wrong but that wasn't my intent.
