Agree with Cowherd on LeBron

Basically: Lebron=Wilt

Wilt and LeBron were both well known at fairly young ages (like 15yo.) Neither really faced adversity. Both were worshipped and lauded before they left high school.

Jordan has related the story of getting cut from the HS basketball team and how it drove him to be the best. When he was elected to the BB HOF, he still brought it up and you could tell he still had that chip on his shoulder. It may be petty and immature, but it drove him to be great.

Bron's had everyone sucking him off (and whoever isn't sucking him off, his mom apparently takes care of) since he was a kid. He never developed that instinct that Jordan or Wade have because he never had to.

Wilt was 30 before he won a title. And everyone said he was a freak but he never had the 'winning' gene. Or maybe didn't have Tiger's Blood. Not sure.

But I agree with all that. Bron doesn't seem to have that same drive we see in Jordan or Kobe.

Cowherd may not have said that on the radio. I may have added my own commentary to parts of that.

That's a good one. Not sure its better than Simmons Dr J analogy from last year. At least Wilt did win a title in Philly What if Wilt tried to join teams with Bill Russell? Granted there were only like 8 teams and every good team was stacked

It figures that the only thing I would agree with Cowherd on would be something he basically plaigerized from Simmons. Simmons actually wrote about it again on Grantland just yesterday.

Simmons' angle was that Lebron and Wilt both suffered from unfair expectations because their physical tools made their ceilings for greatness so incredibly high. Because Wilt was capable of averaging 50 a game we expected him to win.

But Simmons ripped Wilt to shreds in his book for not caring about winning. Lebron cares. If he was like Wilt he would have joined the Knicks and tried for a 35/10/10 season

You sure Lebrone really cares? Maybe he thinks winning will make his brand more marketable.

My unsubstantiated take is the primary driver for LeBron to win is he wants to be considered the best and help get that hype. Jordan wanted to win because he couldn't stand losing (in anything). The latter is a much stronger motivator.

^Bingo. My guess is that LeBron wants to win pretty badly, but because it'll cement his legacy, boost his resume, and get the haters of his back.

Guys like Kobe and Mike wanted to win because they hated losing so much. Funny thing is that by winning with this attitude, they simultaneously accomplished what I think LeBron is out to do.

Lebron just sucks when it comes to crunch time. He looks uncomfortable out there. Even the last shot he made looked awkward as hell.
