quote:
KG is unique in that regard," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich offered. "It's important to his game to get himself pumped up, to make sure when he steps on the court that it is the most important thing in his life for 48 minutes. He might be the best at it.

"Maybe it's a function of my age, but I kind of like it. Amusing isn't the right word, because that's too flippant. More like intriguing, or interesting. Any coach would love a player as focused as Kevin."

That's great. And here I figured Pop would have thrown him under the bus like he has so many other players he has coached against in the past.

Do you want a cookie or something? I don't get it. We happen to think KG is an a-hole. You don't. But lets not pretend that coaches are going to tell a reporter their true feelings about an opposing player.

just sayin, y'all should take a cue from a guy who's been closer to the guy you all hate and has way more knowledge on the subject.

I never run KG down in press conferences, so I guess I already took that cue.

I doubt Pop has the time or the luxury to decide which NBA players he thinks are d-bags. That said, if he does, it is my bet that KG is on his list. But he's not going to say it to a room of reporters.

And his comments weren't exactly an endorsement of KG's behavior. If you were a Spurs fan you would know that there is very often double meaning in things he says to reporters. He hates that part of his job and a lot of times he sees how think he can lay the hyperbole/sarcasm just to amuse himself.

Yeah, him saying "Happy Mothers Day m'fer" to Tim Duncan whos mother had passed away less than a year ago before that comment is a product of that worthless piece of human excrement "getting himself pumped up."

Any moron that apparently isn't you can see that Garnett is a huge piece of trash. Plenty of examples our there to back that up.

nope, he's saying that every coach would love to have a guy that plays with as much intensity as KG does.

Look at the way he worded it. That's a long way to go just to say that he would love to have a guy who plays with his intensity. Pop was saying what any coach would say in that situation.

When he's serious about something, he gives 1-2 word answers. When he gets wordy like that, you know he's speaking with some degree of sarcasm and/or manufactured hyperbole. Anybody that has watched the Spurs intently during his tenure would tell you that.

But again, if it makes you feel all warm and snuggly for KG to think Pop dreams about his angry-face and his witty trash talk at night, that's fine with me.

I'm sure Pop would have much rather have had the #1 pick in Garnett's year than Duncan's.

Pop is media savvy sometimes. and blatantly media ignorant at others.

this is a case of pop being media savvy.

dropkick, to make your point, you should point out instances where Pop calls out players for being d-bags or saying that he doesn't like them. aside from affecting his clout, there are freaking rules that prevent him doing so without consequence.

this proves nothing as far as how Pop feels about Garnett. and certainly doesn't change that Garnett is, rightfully so, one of the most hated guys in the league.

and, for reference, Kobe has said that he likes what Garnett does as far as the pumping up and whatever. And I think Garnett is a POS. I appreciate intensity, what Garnett does is flamboyance to the point of idiocy

Do we really know he said the mother thing?

nothing has been confirmed. just speculation at this point.

Garnett is pretty over the top at times, but I'd always want to have him on my team. But i can also see why others dislike him. Just like artest, bowen, noah, matt barnes, raja bell, etc. These guys all try to get under opponents skin. If they're on your team, you like them, if not you can't stand them

I don't think the mother comment has to be confirmed for KG's d-baggery to be confirmed.
