DPOY? Most dominant big man in the game? I've never seen a more hyped player not show up in a Finals series than Howard. At least with Dirk, he had the benefit of one-way calls for Dwyane Wade.

Everytime I see the pre-game clip of Dwight and Kobe meeting to shake hands before the tip with Dwight joking around saying "I got my eyes on you Kobe!" and Kobe just glaring at him, I think to myself, this guy is never going to win a championship if he keeps this up.

Yeah, he's only 23. But he's five years in and he's developed virtually no killer instinct or offensive game.

Dwight is definitely not mentally tough enough yet. I would take him on my team in an instant, but not as the best player and leader.

His offensive game needs a ton of work, but he's a force on defense. 9 blocks the other night was insane, though he ruined that with his terrible FT shooting, especially at the end.

His offensive game is horrendous, he has zero post moves. He tries to be Shaq but he simply doesn't have the size or power to do what Shaq did (he was a monster, he could toss around other 7 footers like they were ragdolls).

If I were Howard I would beg and plead with the great centers of the past to work with him this summer (i.e. Olajuwon, Robinson, Ewing) because he really needs the work.

Have you just not noticed Ewing on his bench?

He just doesn't take the game seriously enough and hasn't developed any consistent back to the basket or front up moves against disciplined defenders.

Well then that's his fault for not having an offensive game. The fact that he's a terrible jump shooter when he has Patrick freaking Ewing as a coach on his team is pathetic. If Ewing, who was one of the best shooting centers of all time, can't get him to work on his shot then Howard will never have any sort of offensive game.

The Lakers knew that Howard always goes right and took that away from him and when he tried to go left he was a step ahead of them so they fouled him and he could never finish the play. He has zero post moves. 22% of his shot attempts this season were dunks, while he only 17% of his shots were jump shots. That means that 83% of his shots were inside the lane, more than likely without using a post move. I just don't see how you can't have a couple of go-to post moves.

Dwight has the physical tools to become like David Robinson. Now we just need to see if he can develop the mental tools and work on the right aspects of his game.

He is a freak of nature, but still has to mature quite a bit, just like King Lechoke.

Where exactly is he "rated"? I need to know that before determining if he's overrated. I mean, I tend to think he's rated properly considering he just led his team to the finals when he wasn't supposed to, but like I said, I don't know exactly where everyone is rating him.

It's silly to say Howard is overrated. He was first team All-NBA because he was the best center in the league this past year. If you disagree, who is better?

Being first team All-NBA does not mean he is a top 5 player in the league. The NBA has became a perimeter league, and therefore there are guys on the second and maybe third team that are better than him. But he is still a top 15 player in the NBA.

i think if yao can get in a full season, he's better than dwight.

dwight's freakish athleticism, sure. but yao is pretty consistent on both ends of the court, and wasn't it just this year when stan was calling out dwight for not going out and rebounding?

i dont see adelman doing that to dwight. however, adelman isnt the MOP.
