Seriously though, for the France, England, Germany, Brazils of the soccer world, this is truly a meaningless match. For "smaller" soccer countries who get on a run, it's damned important. Even more so for a nation that has just made its first trip to the semis. I suspect the players on Turkey's 2002 Third Place winners are absolute legends back home for that success. What have they accomplished since then? Not much. Can you imagine Mexican fans if El Tri secured Third Place at the World Cup? They would go mad.

Still, it's also "Disappointment Saturday" for England and France today.

That may be, but you'll watch the Third Place Game in 2030 because the FIFA people see a full stadium and plenty of tv viewers world wide.
