So keepers will often track a shot, but have spatial awareness to know if it is going off target or too high and just let it go.

Yeah heck of a shot to place it where he did from that far…but that's way more on the keeper than a a miracle goal. He had several seconds to line that up and take care of it.

One interesting aspect to this is the timing of the play and the "Hail Mary" last second part. Usually, ends of soccer matches tend to be a bit more soft in nature because the timing of the match is controlled by the ref and no one except the ref really knows when the match is going to end. The exact clock adds to the story here.

Yeah, poor kid timed his jump bad.

What'd you think of that time wasting call?

I'm not a fan of that particular referee but the call is legit. GK gets the ball in his hands at 35 seconds left and ref calls time-wasting at 15 seconds left. GK is supposed to only have it for 6 seconds, by the law, and we'll usually give around 10 seconds. So the GK screwed up. Notice he didn't argue about it?

Also, Ref stopped the clock at 1:12 so the GK couldn't waste time on a free kick so we're talking about a warning where the entire stadium is aware the referee isn't playing about time wasting 1 minute beforehand.
