How long do you want to ignore this user?
Just moved to the area (technically in Spring) and am looking to play some soccer after work occasionally or on weekends. I drove by the Bear Branch Park fields the other day and they look very nice. Anyone know of people that get together out there or anywhere else nearby? I'll toss this over to the Houston board too.

there is a pickup game on wednesday nights from 8-10pm at bear branch that costs 25 dollars for 3 months (fee is for renting the field) but you have to be 30 or over .....

for those that arent 30, same game, same fee but on thursday nights ....

you can sign up for either one at the woodlands community center right across from bear branch park ....

What's the level of competition at the under-30 games? I am looking for a regular game once school ends, but I hate playing with ultra-serious, I-should-be-on-the-NT crowd.

i make it to the over 30 games bc the under 30 doesnt have enough people to do a regular 11v11 game every week .....

the over 30 game is a good level of competition, no sliding, offsides, good speed overall ...

i have a couple of indoor teams but they all play either in houston or just south of spring ... i have an outdoor team in the woodlands that needs another guy or more ...

I've played on a couple of indoor teams down in Spring, but both times we never had enough guys and had to constantly try to find players last minute.

I may try to go out to BB fields next week. I'm under 30, but not by much, so I guess I'll see how the Thursday night games look. (I'd go this week, but we have our last JV track meet that night.)

The fields are open to the public right? I guess the fee is for them to turn the lights on maybe. I'd be in the under 30 group too. Jeff, you said you're short a man (albeit for an over 30 team); are these structured games with fixed rosters? As for indoor, I know there's that soccer specific facility in spring. Might give that a try too.

Thanks for the info.

yea the fee is for renting the fields at that time/turning the lights on .... bc from 8-10pm, you cant see jack .....

as for the outdoor team, yea two weeks ago i had to play the entire game, without subs, after i had put in a U10 center ref (Fri), 3 adult HFA games (Sat), and a U14 center ref (Sun) so my legs werent in the best shape after that ....

will be forming a mens team in a couple weeks but would need some more guys for the indoor team, plus some money up front from everyone so i dont end up paying the bulk of it like i did with the coed team ....

When would your games be for the indoor and outdoor games? I'd be interested in maybe playing, but since I coach, I'm only available during the summer.

indoor is almost over, have 3 games left over the next 3 weeks ....

outdoor is over after this weekend, its always on sundays ....

im gonna try to get an indoor team together but its gonna be for a lower division so we can win then move up rather than sink or swim in a more competitive division .....

Bump this for others interested in pick-up soccer games this summer.

I have been going to these pick-up games in The Woodlands the last couple of weeks and it's been pretty fun. They have been at Bear Branch field (on Research Forest) but the new session (July 7 - sometime in Sept.) will be held at Alden Bridge (off 242). They play from 8-10 pm on Wednesday nights and the cost is $20 for the whole session.

To be able to play, you have to go by The Woodlands sports and rec office (across the street from Bear Branch fields) and pay your fee (they call them "drop-in games" though). There are usually about 25 guys out there each week and it's pretty fun for those looking for a casual challenge.

soccerag,
where do you play the indoor games? I may be interested.
If we come out to the pick-up games, how will we recognize you, for introduction purposes?

If anyone needs players at northwest indoor soccer let me know cause I would love to be on a team there. Its a great facility and good competition even though the management is awful.

Thanks Jeff! Went by the bear branch fields the other weekend and noticed they were closed all summer, goals gone and everything. Is this typical? I guess they just want to cycle field usage.
