I posted this in response to the "ISO: daily driver" thread, but figured it would make sense to post as a separate topic. I'm looking to sell my 2008 Toyota Camry CE which currently has 142,441 miles on the odometer. I purchased it new in 2008 and have been the sole driver for the last 16 years. Honestly, I wish I could keep driving it for the next decade, but my growing family and changing life circumstances have dictated an upgrade to a bigger vehicle. Car is located on the west side of Houston.
The good:
-Single owner car with clean title
-Mechanically, it is in good condition (see one note about oil consumption below)
-I was religious about changing oil and rotating tires every 5-6k miles, and have recently changed out sparks, brakes, TPMS, and motor mount (all paperwork on maintenance/repairs is in the glovebox for your review)
-Tires are not new, but have plenty of miles left
-AC blows cold and stereo/radio work fine
-No major accidents (a couple of fender benders years ago which caused cosmetic damage and have long since been repaired)
The not-so-good/other notes:
-The engine consumes a little oil. I'm no gearhead, but the mechanic I trust says it is a common/known issue for Camrys of this vintage, and that as long as the oil is checked periodically and topped off as needed, it has a lot of life left. I haven't monitored it precisely, but I'd estimate lately I've filled 1 quart every 5-6 weeks while it was my daily driver.
-Interior is in overall good shape for a 16 year-old vehicle, but it has a couple of smaller stains on the carpet and seats, and a tear in the center console (see pics below)
-Exterior: most noticeable issue is a horizontal line of chips/scratches on the passenger side doors caused by an overly aggressive automatic car wash; other than that, it's just normal wear and tear (scratches and dings here and there)
-Auxiliary port does not work, 1 of the 2 cigarette lighters can be finicky, and there is no Bluetooth functionality (this is a base level trim from 16 years ago)
The most comparable listings I've found online range from $5,000-7,500. I think somewhere in the bottom of that range is fair in light of the issues noted above. I'm in no particular rush to sell, but anything less and I'll just take it to CarMax and be done with it. I've attempted to describe the condition as fairly as possible as I'm not interested in haggling.
I didn't really want to bother with a private party sale, but Texags is one of the few places online that I trust, and I'm willing to give another Ag a fair deal. I think this would make a great first vehicle for someone's kid (assuming mom or dad shows them how to check the oil!).
