Kid finally shattered the screen on his. Looked at repairing and figured it's just going to be easier to find a replacement. doesn't have to be fancy. just relatively fast and cheap.

We've had luck getting screens replaced a few times with a person we knew who did it out of their home in the Cypress area. Take a look on Facebook or Craigslist for an individual rather than one of those fixit places if you're on a budget.

If it is for your kid, go to Backmarket. You can get refurbs in various conditions as low as $75 for really old models.

f you try to replace the glass make sure the Ipad is not bent even slightly

I have a buddy that works there and have bought several recertified machines from them. They carry most Apple devices as well as Dell, Microsoft Surface, etc.

Where are you? I have two old ones I don't use. They are both too old to update to the latest software but are in good cosmetic condition. Might be perfect for a kid.
