Could someone tell me the truth regarding the distortion to his mouth. I have heard a lot of rumors but wanted to know if anyone knew the true cause.

Born with it. If your 7th cranial nerve is damaged, it can cause this sort of thing. Have you ever seen anyone with Bell's Palsy?

Hey Nav,

Thanks for the update. I am in the medical field and thought that is what it may have been. I got the opportunity to meet the man about a year ago and that is certainly NOT a question you bring up. I was just curious and certainly hope I didn't offend and John David fans. He is a true gentleman.

IF you have a copy of The Junction Boys, it's covered briefly in chapter 18. As the story goes, the umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck, causing nerve damage.

I understand that when the All America team was presented on the Ed Sullivan show, Sullivan made some light remark about the 'face' Crow was making (or something along this line). When he found it wasn't a 'face' but a condition since birth he was supposed to have felt really shamed and embarrassed.
