Regardless, deep down, both teams know this is a rivalry game, although they might not want to come out and say it.

He's right. If we had taken care of business against OU and Nebraska this game would have national relevance. As it is, very few that are not Aggies or sips will bother watching this game.

We have a ton of t-shirt t-sip fans here in San Antonio ... they're trying to please their audience.

The reality is we are not a national power, haven't been for sometime, and have a long way to go to become one.

When OU was bad in the mid 90s, UT didn't care about that game, A&M was their "main" rival. Now OU is good and A&M isn't as strong, the OU game has huge implecations on the MNC the A&M game does not. Where do you think their focus would be?

I'm tickled for the basketball team because they have a coach that's not a positive spin master for failure. Don't think he's gonna have to carry around an excuse list for referral like the professor.

SA has a huge orange tint over it. A lot of it has to do with UTSA being here and all those tools forgetting they're roadrunners. Random people also think of them as the home team because they named themselves the university of Texas - so people will more often naturally associate themselves with them.

It's ridiculous, but it's true ... that paper is trying to crank out crap that San Antonio wants to hear.

After reading the headline this morning, I said to myself… “Tim Griffin probably wrote it.” Sure enough.

It's still a rivalry and always will be, just don't expect a UT fan to put it as their top rivalry right now. We become more of a threat then it changes.

Wrong....over the life of the series, Texas/OU (57-39) has been much closer than that with A&M (73-34). Take out the one consistent period of Aggie dominance in the 90's, and it's that much more one-side?

Texas/OU = Ohio State/Michigan (*border war)
Texas/A&M = Michigan/MSU (*in state bragging rights)

Wrong Boy, if you are going to quote lifetime stats you need to indicate how many of the early years the games were only played in Austin..

Hex rallies,Special breakfasts,parades on congress,$85 tickets,etc.,This is the tu Rival game,ou/tu is a road-trip drunkfest, here in Austin,a loss to the Aggies is always the worst for tu.They always start that,"its not such a rival" crap in years that they might lose. What is more important than state bragging rights??? People outside the state hate tu. This is their "we must win game" every year.365 days of bragging for Texans,it doesn't get any bigger than this.

The longer that A&M Football loses every single meaningful game they play, the longer that we have to read these fn articles.

It won't stop until we win. And the fact that we can't win these games (horns, tech, dirt burglars, huskers) at home is just galling.

Spike friggin Dykes made a career in lubbuttocks out of just winning the big home games against the in-state big boys. Fran wouldn't be feeling near the heat if he'd done the same. He wouldn't be a "success" on that alone, but it would've done a lot to keep the wolves away.

And now he faces a must win against a team with better talent in Austin. He put himself in this hole.

You mean the legislature named us the University of Texas. But you're right. Most across the state, and especially outside of the state, view us as the academic and athletic representative of the entire state of Texas. Shoot, most college football fans couldn't point to College Station on a map, but just about any 6th grader knows where the Austin and the University of Texas is located.

ESPN Gameday knows where College Station is.
