Anyone know if the cotton bowl parade is on game day right around the stadium area? My bowl map shows a parade route. Major traffic problems?

From what I've read, the FTAB will not be part of the parade. Is this correct? It's just the participating high school bands?

They still have a cotton bowl parade?

Seriously I remember waking up on new years day watching the cotton bowl parade then the rose bowl parade then the cotton bowl then the Rose bowl and then the night ended with the Orange bowl.

They cancelled the real Cotton Bowl parade years ago. Something like 10-15 years ago. It used to go through downtown Dallas and was televised nationally on New Years morning. That was when the parade started at 9am and the game was around 1pm. You could do the parade and the game, if I'm not mistaken.

Anyway, there is a "parade of the bands" inside of the fair grounds on New Years eve, starting at 3pm. The info says about 20 HS bands AND the Tenn and A&M bands will be in this parade. It also says a yell practice at 4:30 for the Aggie Band and fans. Anyway, that's what the info says that I got with my tickets.

The two years my HS (Dallas Bryan Adams) band participated, 1963 & '64, the parade was up Commerce Street in downtown Dallas, on the morning of the game.
By the 1966 CB game, the parade had been moved to inside the Fairgrounds, but still in the morning and on TV.
When we played against Alabama in '68, it was still in the Fairgrounds. The TV commentators and reviewing stand were in front of the Hall of State. The Dallas A&M Club hosted a barbecue between the parade and the game to which we were invited as guests (with our dates).
One of my best recollections of that day was when the sun came out during our drill.

One Southwest Conference band director of the (Adams) era reportedly said "I dread going against the Aggie Band...It takes two weeks to recover from the trauma."

Essayons,
