Promote two coordinators from within so nobody gets feathers ruffled. Content with a 185 lb QB1 who struggled terribly at the end of last season, and a backup he is evidently afraid to play.

I will never be happy with losing, but would give Elko a lot more credit if he had at least made some bold moves to try to take the next step forward, found people who had been successful coordinators and a QB to come in and complete.

It feels like rolling around in our own **** when I see teams like Ole Miss have both an outstanding QB1 and a really good looking QB2. I expect we may have been able to get the OM QB2 a lot cheaper than Reed was.

Now we are stuck with abject sucking and another long term coaching contract. Trev had to approve the promotions and extension. It is time for some very highly paid people to feel heat to fix this **** or get run off.

This offseason will be the undoing of Elko. Can Elko recover? Sure. But it gets so much harder coming off a season like this one.

Having a top class will help but we need to go to the root of the issue ASAP

Oh bless your heart. You still think our recruiting class is going to hold together after this disaster of a season.

He seems to be a "yes" man who loves to sing "Kumbahyah".

I NEVER figured him for thst. A man who can't make tough decisions.

Recruiting hasn't been a problem here since we joined the SEC. Hasn't made a difference.

Recruiting has changed since this thought has been true.
With the kids now if we have enough money we can sell immediate playing time to many good players and maybe our class will improve.

The biggest problem we have is not having a starting qb. If our alumni want to have a good team next year we have to go buy a couple of real qbs and let the best player start.
Of course Elko will have to be honest with Reed that he isn't starting next year.

FIFY.

That is in large part why we compete year in and year out for the "less out of more" national championship.

Yeah, it isn't as if only the HC came from Duke. Not really a recipe for success to have so many as you point out.

I said it would help Elko recover if we get to the root of the issue. I didn't say it was gonna be our savior.

Yes, actually I do. You do know players are paid to come? Thats 95% of the decision.

We may lose a few but will EASILY retain a Top 5 Class.

Elko will FIRE quite a bit of his staff this offseason. He doesn't have a choice unless he truly wants to be fired after next season. Regardless, not sure he will have much of a choice.

Yes. Staff will look very different. Any manager in Alberts position will make it clear that changes need to be made and Elko can either be a partner in the change or a casualty. Keep in mind Elko didn't like the performance of the defense last year (which mind you looks 1000% better than this years defense) and fired the DC in the offseason. What makes you think he will NOT make the offensive changes this offseason? But just like our DC changes,...changes don't always work for the better.

Man, if our offensive changes don't result in improvement, we may as well just shut down the damn program. I don't see how it could be worse. I guess if we kept Marcel and hired the recently fired OU OC, that might do it.

Years ago, I would agree. Momentum and negative recruiting after a disaster of a season all made it harder, if not impossible, for a coach / team / program to recover.

Money has changed that narrative. Buy the right mercenaries and a season can change immediately.

Not worried about recruiting with oil prices where they are. Need at minimum an OC, DC, WR Coach, QB Coach and two portal QB's. And must be ruthless cutting players that are dead weight.

The question any top QB in the nation is asking himself when TAMU comes knocking on his door is: "What can A&M provide me in terms of QB instruction, scheming, and development that I can't get elsewhere?" The answer is NOTHING. This is the problem for us. Our reputation is not about QBs, and we have no established track record of consistently developing elite QBs. (Sure, there are a couple of outliers in 30 years.)

Look at programs like Ohio State, BYU, Miami, and others that seem capable of reloading at the position rather than rebuilding every time a starter leaves. That's not an accident. They've established an identity, an offensive philosophy, and a culture of quarterback development that transcends any one player. QBs want to play in those systems because they believe they'll get better.

We just keep trying to solve every f-in problem with scale -- bigger buyout, bigger stadium, bigger contract, bigger whatever -- and chasing the next best QB without establishing the infrastructure to consistently develop one. We recruit talent, change coordinators, change schemes, and start over. Until we build a program where elite QBs see A&M as a destination for development, rather than simply a place with great facilities, SEC exposure, and NIL money, we're going to keep having the same cesspool conversations over and over and over again.
