The refs didn't need to do any protecting, without their QB, Mississippi State can't sniff an end zone.

How was that a safety, RB's get forward progress.

Hear me out, if instead of the sip RB finally being tackled in the endzone, what if he spun around, dodged some tacklers and went 100yrds for the TD? Do you actually think the refs woulda said "nope" ball goes on the 1 yard line? That woulda caused trash to be thrown on field and they would have awarded the TD in either scenario.

Exact thing I said. He was basically untouched at one instant in the endzone without a whistle. ZERO chance that if he broke free and ran for a td they would have called it dead.
