I do not believe for a minute LSU will be kicked out of the SEC. The powers do not want that, I believe it is a bluff. I tend to think LSU thinks it is a bluff too and will proceed. That said, I hope I'm wrong and this is the start of some positive changes to try and save collegiate sport.

As to a replacement in the event they do oust LSU, ideally it would be another Louisiana team that sparks a power struggle in state. Unfortunately, I don't think a team like that exists in the state. I've seen Tulane comments and maybe that is the closest thing to a threat. But, I do not think they fit the bill.

I'm not convinced the members want another big dog on the football schedule. My guess is that if they go looking for replacements it is a Georgia Tech, Louisville, or North Carolina type program. A team with a solid consumer market and maybe has some upside in other sports (basketball, baseball) but does not add another bruiser to the football schedule.

Agree. This very much feels like a bluff. And pulling a team from the ACC is more complicated than it sounds due to the grant of rights agreement. Hope I'm wrong, but I think LSU is here to stay.

ACC for Expansion all the way. For replacement, my first call would be Nebraska.

Nebraska is interesting. In line with my thoughts above, I'm not sure members want a potential threat added to the football schedule. I've always thought Nebraska had it in them to return to glory. SEC exposure might just give them that juice. No one understands more than us what SEC juice and a couple good breaks can produce.

Aside from adding schools from states where we already have member institutions to be petty, I'd go:
1. North Carolina
2. Virginia
3. Clemson
4. Florida State
5. Kansas
6. Virginia Tech
7. NC State
8. West Virginia
9. Miami (Don't love that they play in an NFL stadium)
10. Tulane/Memphis (If we have to dip into G6)

I have a soft spot for Georgia Tech because I have a family connection there, but they genuinely would bring nothing new because UGA controls the entire state, especially Atlanta.

I don't think you'll get any of the NC schools to leave the others, for basketball reasons.

GT is out, though. Jackets are not a big enough football brand, plus their history of leaving the SEC.

Longshot would be VATech.

SEC would only consider a school in a contiguous state with a big football brand and an on campus stadium (culture thing).

I think (maybe soon) the SEC and Big Ten will separate from the NCAA. They will add a few other schools to get to 40 or so. Then they may say to LSU "you sued the conference and Sankey. So you are out." I think this because LSU with Kiffin, Louisiana lawyers, judges and the Governor they will always be a problem.

I love playing lsu. I'd be much happier not playing former swc schools.

UNC would be #1 imo.

I don't buy this whole "GT is never coming into the SEC" stuff. If it makes $ sense and the SEC schools support it, they will be in (assuming they want to). What happened 50+ years ago isn't going to play today.

People making those decisions don't think like message board posters. Besides, Nebraska and someone in the B10 buried the hatchet. I can't remember who, now, but Byrne was telling me about it once in an email. Nasty stuff that went on for decades between the 2 schools. Wish I could remember the story. Sadly, I don't have that email account anymore or I'd look up the thread. (Maybe it wasn't a B10 school; maybe they just started playing them again in NonCon; sorry for the lack of detail). At any rate, it made sense for both schools to forget the past and everyone involved in the nastiness was long gone (and buried).

GT is not coming to the SEC because it isn't going to make money sense at any take in realistic future.
