I said it in the game thread - if he's smart he slides. They center the ball, run the clock down & we lose 6-3 without touching the ball again.

Instead, we got to the 5 with plenty of time and a shot to tie.

It was 3rd down, so I think we absolutely wanted to stop him and force a kick with around 1:15 left.

That was absolutely the case. That kid should have slid down once he got the first or just run out of bounds and they kick a game winner with no time left.

They gave us the opportunity, we just couldn't take advantage which was the case the whole game. We deserved to lose

Since we can't score a TD, you take the guaranteed points and win the game. Pretty easy decision for Miami.

Miami kicker stunk. I can't imagine they wanted to leave the game in his hands. Score the touchdown and rely on your defense. Or rely on Marcel stubbing his toe.

I spoke with my close friend in the department. He told me the play call was situational.

If they get the first down then let them score a TD.
Try to prevent a first down though.

I asked if he had proof or something visible showing that happened and he says yeah, just look at the replay.

Players know what angles to take to stop a TD run. The players took aggressive angles towards keeping the runner behind the line of scrimmage and when he turned the corner he was home free. TD.

It actually makes sense and if not for Klein's bad play calling, we could have legitimately won at the end of the game.
