Five other commits - including the top 4 - have yet to sign. Are they holding out for more money?

That drops them to the 12th spot in 247 and Rivals.

It certainly is some drama. I'm guessing eventually most of them sign but its interesting to see Floriday pretty much retain all of their kids (only a couple haven't signed) while LSU is struggling to get their top kids in the fold.

It's well known LK was promised a bunch of NIL money. This is just good negotiation.

They heard about Lane's contract and the $30 mil a year guaranteed in NIL money.

Hopefully this is a sign that Elko can swoop in and potentially flip some of the currently committed yet still unsigned (now down to 5 kids - including 4 stud defensive players highlighted by Lamar Brown) LSU recruits!

Horns paid Manning 4.5 mil this season, nothing lite about any of this anymore.

Yeah, it's worse. This is the wild wild west. NFL at least has structure, contracts, collective bargaining, prescribed free agency, etc.

Exactly.

In CFB, players have the power. They decide which team they will play for, no salary cap, they can leave any time they want, etc...

Previous coach let go, new coach in… all in floating over 9 figures. You better believe these players are holding out, as they should. It's a business now.
