This deal with Kiffen is a mess. I think it will change college football. If not and it happens a few more times like this I can't see them not taking a look at it.
1. If he takes the LSU job he should absolutely not coach the playoff games. He's going to be coaching/ recruiting for LSU and coach Ol Miss in the playoffs?? That ain't gonna work out for Ol Miss. The fans are going to be pissed. He's going to talking to some of the better players about transferring to LSU. This is as bad or worse than the Schlossnagle deal. F*%j that guy by the way. Recruiting our players to a rival or in another in conference team??? What a mess.
2. Early signing period- December 3, 2025- this is also a problem. Coaches feel like they have to leave their teams in order to recruit for their new team in December when the season is not already over. Coaches trying to coach playoff games are coaching and recruiting which is probably not going to change but what a distraction at the end of the year. Not sure why December is necessary.
3. The transfer portal timing- January 2nd. Players on teams that are not still in the hunt for a national title feel like they have to sit out of games and now the bowls suck. I get but it's not making the game better. Coaches are focused on signing transfer portals guys while trying to prepare for the playoffs. I guess if it doesn't bother the coaches it should not bother me. Maybe it wouldn't change even if this date was different. Not sure
4. National signing day Feb 4th - why does this even exist anymore if all of the above are in place. This a worthless date now. It should be the first time that kids can singn like it used to be because that would fix a lot of what's going on above. Just wait until after the bowls and NC game.
5. Texas A&M should absolutely has a penalty that if you leave for our rival or you leave to coach in conference then you buyout is ridiculous. So big that no one would ever do it. If we didn't learn in baseball then shame on us. Some of you will say that coaches wouldn't agree to this we're paying people millions dollars a year to coach.
This is not unreasonable.
