"Texas decided to go to Ohio State and play a meaningful game," Finebaum said. "One of the biggest games in college football. Had they played Kennesaw State, which Indiana played, or Oklahoma State, one of the worst teams in the country, which Oregon played, they wouldn't be in this situation. In my mind, Texas belongs in the College Football Playoff even with that record."

Because tu scheduled to play osu, then it counts if they win and it counts if they lose.
You can't count it only if you win and don't count it if you lose. That is flawed reasoning and total BS!

Then we should get even more credit for scheduling ND and WINNING!

He is correct. But it also counts when you lose to a "4"-8 Florida team. It also counts when you lose to Georgia at home 35-10. It also counts when two 5-7 teams take you to overtime.

They e had some good wins but you also have to count the 2 very bad wins and the 2 very bad losses because there are too many teams in the mix at this point.

Cracks me up how those same media morons just aren't bringing up the UF loss at all.

They played Georgia in Athens, but doesn't change the argument.

This.
The disconnect is the college playoff (as it's now designed) is for teams who were the best over the course of the entire regular season, not who's the best at the end of the regular season.

The thing is that it's okay to schedule a team like OSU and lose as long as you don't turn around and lose to a crappy team like Florida as well.

That game puts them at the top of the group of 3 loss teams.
It doesn't make them a 2 loss team.

Indiana would still only have ONE loss if they played and lost to someone highly-ranked before conference games.

Well, A&M is top 5 team, especially with a healthy Moss. So yeah they would have an argument if wasn't for Florida game.

True they would have been in if they didnt play that game, but they did.

I know as much about cfb as Finebaum. Most on here can say the same thing. Why do I give two ****s what that guy thinks? Sports media is stupid.

They have given so much attention to that stupid OSU game. Of course the rules changed for Texas, Georgia, Alabama, LSU and Notre Dame usually.

They're going to twist anything they can to try to get sip in the playoff. But I don't think it happens. That said, we should've taken care of business last night, but that ship has sailed.

If Mississippi State hadn't collapsed in the fourth quarter this would be a moot point as well as if Vanderbilt beat them.

Ole Miss is the team we should be talking about. Played 8 home games, and nobody out of conference. Definitely a playoff team, but at the bottom of the 1 loss teams.

Finebaum is just a bald big mouth talking head sucking up to Sark, probably wants him on his show. Texas lost to Florida and got beat by four scores by Georgia. Sorry Pawl and Sark.

Finebaum's paychecks are signed by the same company that invested 750 million into a single school network for their precious, saw it fail massively, then bought their precious a spot in a better conference.

Of course he will worship the precious.

I don't want them in it, period.

But in trying to think rationally, I don't know who they'd sensibly be able to leave out in order to wiggle their sleazy asses back into it.

I think they're just F'd

Sark has been on Finebaum a lot this season. Of course, so was Bryan Kelly before...he was fired.

There are way to many 1and 2 loss ranked teams ahead of 3 loss Texas. If Texas gets in , it will make the CFP committee look ridiculous.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yep, but they already look ridiculous by having IU at #2 most the season.

Re finebaum. He says what he's told to say. ESPN wants sip in, which is why they ultimately will get in. Money and eyeballs folks.

No one has a clue how it should work so they're trying to stretch the old model and their money depends on the fan bases that bring the most cash. If you're wondering if we are one, the answer is "not yet."

How long? When we dominate away games with our fans at all venues then we are closer. When we stop focusing on personnel management and costs as fans we are closer. When we buy $24 chicken wraps BECAUSE THEY ARE GOOD, we are closer.

I doubt we care unless we win and as long as fans are just along for the ride what you will hear is entitlement not commitment. You can tell when we sound like they do without winning in every program that we aren't there.

Losses matter, the FL game happened, and they were blown out by UGA.

9-3 teams will get in a 16 team CFP field, not 12.

What i was expecting is committee to drop A&M to a lower seed like a bad habit with reasoning that they lost to a Texas team that has had an off year.

But elevate Texas into the playoffs because they beat a good Aggie team (that they just got through bashing).

That would be hypocritical though so no way it goes down like that….

Texas should focus on the Texas Bowl.

A 9-3 team can actually have a superior resume to an 11-1 team. FACT The horns got the benefit of being in a weak conference and are now suffering by having to play an SEC schedule. The committee has one bias and that is to extract equal representation across conferences and country, thus teams that have few losses but also NO wins(Oregon's best win is USC for crying out loud) will get in the playoff ahead of teams that had to play NFL talent weekly.

Not true. They got up for a home night game against their biggest in-state rival and played well for a night. That's not a season. Three losses, two bad. And two bad wins. All from preseason #1 roster. Pass.
