After reading that, I'm surprised we haven't heard his name mentioned more in coaching searches. This has the look of a great hire. And if he can get a good defensive coordinator to join him, look out. But if he does for Arky what he did for South Florida, one of the big-money schools will outbid Arkansas in a few years, unless one of the Waltons decides to throw more money around.

He and Tusk should get along fine. His wife is also from Arkansas and still visits family every month so I'm sure that helped.
So, I guess I missed why Lashlee wasn't their guy. He seemed like a slam dunk. As for this guy, maybe it works but I just don't buy into the Kendall Briles / Josh Heipel offensive background being a huge plus.

Lashlee apparently told people he doesn't think he's ready for a job that would be that challenging quite yet in this stage of his career

He may be shrewd… he should be pretty comfortable in Dallas. But for a coach to say that is hard to believe.

Well I think that's essentially saying that without it being so obvious lol. Drinkwitz had a similar mindset when he chose Missouri over Arkansas in that it's hard to go back home again if you fail at the in-state job so early in your career

The northwest Arkansas MSA is larger than the majority of SEC areas FWIW. I'd say Starkville and Auburn qualify more as middle of nowhere regions

He was 22-15 over 3 seasons at S Florida. He will have more to work with at Arkansas, but the pigs should withhold their excitement until we see the product on the field. This is a gamble I think.
