He broke a metacarpal bone in his hand in the Georgia game. However, Sark said he expects to have him back this week. I dont think it takes only two weeks for broken bones to heal.

He is playing apparently. Won't be at 100% tackling and playing in coverage with one hand, but probably better for them than whoever his backup is.

A linebacker can play with a cast on his hand

Dont forget they are down their defensive captain and LB for the first half, too.

The second level is very vulnerable for 30 minutes

But how compromised will he be when it comes to wrapping up trying to intercept passes, pick up fumbles, etc. Playing against Hill with a broken hand is likely much different than playing against a fully healthy Hill.

Also, their backup Ty'anthony Smith is out for targeting for the 1st half of our game.

I broke the same exact 5th metacarpal bone in my hand before my senior year of football. Broke it in June at an OU football summer camp and played my first game 1st week of September with a hand cast. I can't imagine playing 2 weeks after I broke it...

I forgot which NFL legend said it, but there was a least one defensive lineman who liked playing with a cast and thought it gave him an advantage.

Sark said previously he expected him to play and yesterday he said "no update".

Not that we should be trying to run up the middle on their D anyway but outside zone runs and Jet sweeps should be a staple until proven that he can tackle with the club on. Don't need anything he can square up and use only shoulder pads.

Probably gonna hurt like a mother****er if he does play, and even with a cast that's just asking to **** it up more.

Casts at this level Carbon Fiber. The Georgia Center has played with a carbon fiber cast on his snapping hand.

In the 50 Toughest Men to Play article in Spots Illustrated years ago, there was a defensive player from the 60s that broke his thumb so bad it disturbed his teammates in the huddle, as he finished the series. They thought he was going to seek medical attention immediately upon hitting the sidelines as he requested lots of tape. He used copious amounts of tape according to teammates to tape his thumb down to his fist and fashioned a "cast" that he used as a club on his opponents the rest of the game.

That article was something to read. The men that were paid warriors in the NFL from the 40s-70s were hard to break.

Bears Junction QB Elwood Kettler played the entire season with a broken back!

Went to the hospital for an Xray and then back to practice. An ambulance shows up with orders to bring Kettler back to the hospital after the X Ray was read. Billy Pickard told the ambulance driver it wasn't going to happen - " He is on the practice field right now , Coach Bryant is not going to like his QB being taken away". ( not exact quote but captures the gist of it)

No wonder that was Bears favorite team.

We need to send Reuben Owens, Amari Daniels, EJ Smith, or Jamario Morrow right at Anthony Hill and make him fight off blocks.
